US Southern Command’s James Stavridis believes that solution to thwarting anti-American rhetoric lies in "soft power" and inter-agency cooperation between the US military, US Department of State and others. Stavridis’ solutions draw on lessons from the Reagan Administration’s War on Drugs, community building and humanitarian interventions. Beltway think-tanks including The Center for Strategic and International Studies and The Center for a New American Security support the doctrinal shift.
