Meteor Exploding Over South Africa (Video)

On News.com.au:

A METEOR has crashed in a blaze of colour in South Africa, but experts are unable to find where the out-of-space visitor landed. The rare astronomical phenomenon was captured by a local traffic camera and witnessed by locals, British tabloid the Sun reports.

The footage initially shows cars on a busy road, near the city of Johannesburg, when the meteor suddenly streaks across the night sky. The meteor appears as a brilliant green light before it explodes on the horizon, transforming into an orange ball of flame.

One witness told the Sun: “We saw this big green ball of fire. It kind of came out of the sky, out of the blue. “There was a sudden flash, like an orange stripe in the sky, followed by a very bright explosion where the sky lit up as if it was daytime.”

  3. I live in Oklahoma, all the way in the United States, and i saw a huge green meteor just like this fall a while ago! O.o Is it some sort of phenonomenon??

    • If you have a read of H.G.Wells The War of the Worlds, you will find its a very common phenomenon, usually preceeding a full scale invasion.

      • indeed, and if you have read/watched Transformers you would also know there is a high chance that those are robots. The reason they can't find the meteor is because, of course, they have transformed into cars and are now living among us.

    • i saw the same thing in portugal with my workmates last month

  21. Did anybody see a fireball over Randburg on 25th July 2010, somewhere around 06:00 in the morning? I was travelling on Jan Smuts avenue, through Craighall and saw a fireball travelling north towards Pretoria. It lasted a number of seconds, then broke up into pieces. Initially thought it was a small aircraft in trouble, but it was travelling far too fast for that.
