HP Computers Are Racist

This YouTube video is becoming a worldwide sensation with news headlines like “HP Cams Can’t See Black Faces.” The official blurb from the YouTube page:

The face tracking feature of the HP web cam will not recognize or track black faces. You have to watch this video. It is hilarious!

    It does, however, seem like HP did very little product testing before releasing this feature. Otherwise, they would realize how this lighting glitch might play out.

    Shocking report: Black people have darker skin which interferes with current tracking tech.

    Dark colors absorb the scanning beam without reflecting back to the reciver (camera). They can't use a high power scan bcause that would burn your retinas. Unfortunate limitation of the technology. I'm sure they could find a way around it though. I don't think this is a case of racism, but they need to disclose the limitation when sold. I can see the disclaimer now, yeah right. Too touchy a subject to be forthcoming about. Better to play dumb, sell computers, then direct your complaints to some stone-wall help desk in a foriegn country.

    Worse, even, is that the MALE keeps bossing around the FEMALE, a la “Wanda! Get back in here!”

    HP=not racist
    Men=sexists
