Oops: Backscatter X-Ray Machines “Tear Apart DNA”

At Yahoo Tech:

The latest airport security trend is the backscatter x-ray machine, touted as a powerful way to virtually frisk a traveler for contraband without the embarassment of a strip search.

Though touted as completely safe because the level of radiation is so low, travelers have been nervous about the devices — and not just because it shows off a nice outline of their privates to the people manning the machines — but because they remain scared of the health problems they might propose.

Looks like a little healthy paranoia might have been a good thing. While the conventional wisdom has held that so-called “terahertz radiation,” upon which backscatter x-ray machines are based, is harmless because it doesn’t carry enough energy to do cellular or genetic damage, new research suggests that may be completely wrong.

Specifically, researchers have found that terahertz radiation may interfere directly with DNA. Although the force generated is small, the waves have been found to “unzip double-stranded DNA, creating bubbles in the double strand that could significantly interfere with processes such as gene expression and DNA replication.”

I’m not a doctor, but that just doesn’t sound good…

I hope to go into airport security one day so I can look at all the sexy ladies =D

How difficult can it be to test this theory that DNA is damaged? Just sample the DNA of the security staff that stands next to these devices….

We know very little about the harmonics that hold us together. Anything that oscillates has 4 parts of time to contend with. Stop, go, stop, go back in other direction and stop again changing directions. An atom oscillates yet the so called experts have not identified the 4th part/phase of the atom…..even though it is shown in every modern book on basic electricity running in the  opposite direction in relation to the electron called the “hole”. When something that obvious gets past the so called experts we all need to wonder what else are the experts missing. What’s even more disturbing is the “hole” is the missing graviton in the standard model, and it’s obviously a part of the atom. Gravity needs a force carrier and that force carrier is space….space relative to time in the atoms cycle. I would never allow that machine to chop up my DNA, but many will and they will help advance the knowledge of Science and the DNA. The DNA repairs itself all the time but if the body reaches a high level of damage at the same apparent time the likelihood of complete repair becomes less likely.
