Homegrown Right-Wing-Extremist Terrorism: A Recent History

The Southern Poverty Law Center compiled a jaw-dropping overview of about seventy terrorist attempts on American soil by right-wing extremists over the past fifteen years; a lot happened between Timothy McVeigh’s Oklahoma City bombing and the recent plane attack on an IRS building in Austin. Take the 1999 attack by Buford Furrow, for example:

Buford Furrow, a former member of the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations who has been living with the widow of slain terrorist leader Bob Mathews, strides into a Jewish community center near Los Angeles and fires more than 70 bullets, wounding three boys, a teenage girl and a woman. He then drives into the San Fernando Valley and murders Filipino-American mailman Joseph Ileto. The next day, Furrow turns himself in, saying he intended to send “a wake-up call to America to kill Jews.”

My personal “favorite” is the batcrap crazy William Krar with his 500,000 rounds of ammo, and 65 pipe bombs + sodium cyanide bombs, who was on his way to NYC to kill as many pesky Liberals as he could. He's also of concern, because of the docs he had on him that indicated a whole network of goobers just like him intended much the same.

To me, he makes the top of the loon list if only for how nigh COMPLETELY SILENT the Ashcroft was about his capture, seeing as how it came around election time for the Shrub. Tsk, tsk. That's inconvenient.

Had this man been a Muslim sporting brown skin, and not a white rightwinger, you can bet he'd have been grandstanding 24/7 about it.

Next up to me are white supremacists Shawn Robert Adolf, Tharin Robert Gartrell and Nathan D. Johnson, who were on their way to shoot Obama during the DNC convention in Denver. They are significant, because at least two of the three wingnuts is already out of jail.

What sets off my alarm bells about them, is how nonchalant the FBI acted, and how they only chalked the attempt up to meth — apparently finding no significance in the premeditation indicated by the bulletproof vests, camouflage, and high-powered scoped rifles they had in their possession. Like, are ya TRYING to get the man shot? WTF are they out of jail for? They should be in a cell right next to Manson – FOREVER.

You're right, if he had been Muslim he'd be all over the news with a thousand channels excusing his behavior, telling us how it had nothing to do with his religion even as he was shooting people to the tune of allahu akbar, and a number of civil rights groups looking to free him as if he did nothing wrong. At least with Neo-Nazis there's no question even from super liberal groups that the guy is batshit insane because of his ideology.

seriously though, what else could he do with a name like Buford?
    his parents doomed him.
