Israel Is An Apartheid State And That Is Why They Are Losing Legitimacy

By Judy Rebick at Rabble.ca:

Before Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) even began members of the Ontario Legislature and the Canadian Parliament are falling all over each other to denounce it. I can’t remember another time when elected legislators formally denounced a student activity like this. Perhaps during the 1950′s when McCarthyism was rampant but that was before my time.

Last week the Ontario Legislature unanimously passed a resolution denouncing Israel Apartheid Week submitted by PC Peter Shure who said calling Israel an apartheid state was “close to hate speech.” While there were only 30 MPP’s in the Legislature at the time, NDP MPP Cheri di Novo was one of them and spoke in favour of the resolution. This week a Conservative MP is introducing a resolution calling IAW anti-Semitic.

Before I deal with why these unprecedented attacks are taking place, I’d like to share with you a great talk I heard last night at Ryerson from Na’eem Jeena: , a leading activist and academic from South Africa who works for Palestinian solidarity. He told us that South African apartheid had three pillars of apartheid and Israel shares all three.

1. Different rights for different races In the case of Israel, it is different rights for Jews and for non-Jews. For example the law of return of 1950 says Jews can return to Israel and be given citizenship even if they have no links to the country other than mythical biblical ones; whereas Palestinians cannot return even if their parents or grandparents lived there…

More than Jews claim criticism of Israel is Anti-Semitic you have Anti-Israel activists sticking labels on everything trying to prove how not anti-semitic they are. So let's check this article for the pillars of “anti-semitism”:

    1. Placing Israel on a hypocritical pedestal:
Israel provides different incentives for different groups to immigrate. Surprise, they want more Jews to come to Israel than people who are actively trying to destroy the country. And of course, non-Jews are full legal citizens of Israel, an offer which Palestinians have rejected. I don't remember the last time I saw a Human rights group ever criticizing Saudi Arabia for the fact that it's illegal to even be a citizen if you're not Muslim, or that they have entire cities that are Muslims only. Where's the cries of Saudi Arabian apartheid?

    2. Misleading and false “facts”:
93% of land is owned by the JNF, true, that it's JEW ONLY is utterly false. Anyone who's been to Israel can see that.
There are separate roads for Palestinians, again half truth. The author continuously mixes up (on purpose) the Arab-Israelis who are full and equal citizens in Israel, and Palestinians, which by any means are not citizens, and on the large part a dangerous group with an inordinate number of individuals seeking to murder Israeli citizens.

    3. Excuses for focusing on Israel.
“I'm a Jew and I hate Israel” does not validate your opinion at all and only further shows the hypocrisy that probably got you your job in the first place. “All my friends are black, I can't be racist” is a terrible argument. An interesting denial of the rise in Anti-semitic activity only further highlights the complete absence of any grasp on reality. 80% of the hate crimes in the news are about Muslims, while 80% of the crimes committed are still against Jews.

Funnily enough she talks of freedom of speech. A freedom which Pro-Israel supporters give Anti-Israel supporters, even if she doesn't like the accusation of what is really behind Anti-Israel action, but the reverse is untrue as we saw in recent weeks. The last thing these people want is to give any “zionist” any freedom to respond in any accurate way to their absurdities.

So according to my equally invented pillars, she is indeed anti-semitic. Scientific proof according to the article.

Israeli's as a nation (both Jewish and not Jewish citizens) act horribly towards Palestinians. Why should all criticism be considered anti-Semitic?

      • Jonathan

What “Human rights concerns” would you be talking about, dumbsaint?
Would that be the ones where Jews aren't allowed to build in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem?
How about that while the Israeli government dismantles illegal Jewish settlements (as it should) it does NOT dismantle illegal Arabic settlements? (ever see the Negev desert with all the illegal beduin villages?, or how about all the illegally built homes of Arabs in Jerusalem?)
What about that the palestinians are demanding the removal of all Jewish settlements from “their land”, they expect Israel to keep all the Arab-Israeli villages who consider themselves “palestinian”?
BTW, should Israel be in-charge of the welfare of the palestinians who actively deny it's right to exist, attack Israelis, steal cars (look it up, the largest percentage of stolen cars are stolen BY palestinians and are taken into the PA areas) and worse?

        Yes, those human-rights are violated.
I haven't heard anyone who carries the banner of “Human-Rights Activist” ever talk about those.
        ENOUGH WITH THE HYPOCRISY!

And to Ms. Rebick – you use the term “Apartheid” yet you CLEARLY have no grasp of it's meaning, let alone the meaning of the term “race”.
FYI, Jews and Arabs are semitic, so if we play by the defunct concept of race – they're of the SAME race…
EDUCATE YOURSELF before you continue to sound so daft.
