The Black Fridays welcome back Brian Burnett. One of our listener’s submitted a question asking if there are any secret archives of the Orthodox Church. We thought it was an interesting idea and wanted to have Brian back on the show to give his answer.

You can read more of Brian’s thoughts at:  http://codexjustinianus.blogspot.com

This is a totally misleading topic. There are NO secret archives of the Orthodox Church. Burnett speaks about the libraries of St. Catherine's Monastery and Mt. Athos. These are hardly “secret” archives. In fact, after the fourth Crusade and the Muslim invasion of Constantinople, most of the artifacts gathered in the city (documents, relics, gold vessels, etc.) were stolen only to now appear at the Vatican. No “secret” archives exist!

In retrospect your right but, that title was taken directly from a listener submitted question from the guest. So we asked Brian, “Does the Eastern Orthodox Church have a “Secret” Archive, and if so where is it located?” Sorry for the misleading title but thanks for listening! Wes from The Black Fridays.
