‘Ancient Aliens’ Becomes A TV Series

Ancient AliensDisinformation friend Giorgio Tsoukalos just emailed us to let us know that the “Ancient Aliens” special starring Giorgio and Erich von Daniken (among others) is becoming a full-blown TV series. The special was the rare History Channel show that avoided the usual skeptical treatment afforded by that channel’s producers and was well worth watching, so I have high hopes for the series:

We did it. This time, we REALLY did it!

I don’t even know where to begin, so I’ll just make it very short and VERY sweet:

Due to the success of ANCIENT ALIENS (2009), the show was picked up by the History Channel for a series!

It is with great pride that I announce to you:

Ancient Aliens: THE SERIES premieres on the History Channel on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 8PM with Episode I: The Evidence!

In total, there will be 5 two-hour episodes and I once again had the privilege to serve as the show’s Consulting Producer.

When I read the headline I was thinking a back-up show for 'Fringe' or something from the SyFy channel but the History channel?

    • Jack

I think you should stick to Syfy till you grow up.

      • alien1

this programme is not giving out facts at all is jus providin us infomation that we were already aware of and jus simply saying this is ancient aliens with no actual prof at all

  • Screwtape

Real history holds a fathomless depth of compelling stories to draw from. It's disappointing that the History Channel can't make the effort to bring these to their viewers instead of continually resorting to ghosts, aliens, and Hitler's secrets.

    • Jack

Did you forget catch line of History Channel: History made everyday.

I think What you want is stories written by Victors that the whole world now calls History.

A historical fact for you, Edison was Evil and Tesla should get all the credit for electricity but point me to a history book that tells about an elephant getting electrocuted by Edison to prove Tesla wrong.

      • Technomoose

As with all things historical, to the victors go the spoils. Good call.

  • ohyeahno

It's also disappointing that a comment can be completely devoid of any useful content aside from a disapproving opinion.

  • Giantinterstellerfriendlyalien

This series is the single best representation of the possible truth eluding the masses today! Can't wait for episode five!

  • Dave G

I've watched every episisode so far , and find it very interesting, an open mind is always the best , for us
to think outside the square is a smart thing, Once many people thought the earth was flat, but with time we learnt more. Congratulations on this very interesting programme. Dave in Australia.

  • Glade90

shameless…..i don't know what this world is coming to where a channel that purports to be educational and factual presents a series on some crackpot theory as valid. What really makes me sad is that people are watching it and probably believing it.

  • Danjtmolina

Indeed the sheer insanity – having a show putting forth a “theory”! The GALL! What they need is a show about black holes, wait thats a theory – lets not show that, people may actually start to think they are real! I have an idea lets have a show on religion! Wait thats a theory too, we cant have that! People may start to believe it! and kill eachother over an idea a theory!

Oh you shamless dirty dirty H channel maybe we should call it the mind porn channel! Seriously take the sticks outta your asses and just relax

  • Divertim00

it's obvious that there are a few very immature non believers , may i say this…. until you have seen certain unexplained objects with other people as well as alone, you need to sit down and shut up… no further comment…

  • shankayank

I am sorry but this series just aired in the Uk and whilst it was interesting i could not help but think BULL BULL BULL i mean i can sit down and speculate as to what the pyramids are i mean a power station behave !!! What possible evidence is there to suggest that and this seemed to me to be a common theme throughout the series , to just speculate as to what something may be is not proof of alien existance on Earth either now or in the past. Now before believers try to bash me i am not saying there are no other forms of inteligent life in space that would be highly ignorant of me however there is no evidence that would stand up in court to prove these theories. Why are pictures of UFO’s always of poor quality i mean my cellphone has 12.1 megapixel camera !!!!!!!! I guess until they land we will never know for sure so in the meantime all you stoners just keep up the game !”!!

They are mere theories that have some evidence pointing away from mainstream historians and acheologists theories. It is definately not rock hard evidence that there was alien encounters in the past nor does it say so. Anyone who thinks that there is a definate answer in this series is not understanding what they are trying to say. Not once does anyone say any topic mentioned in the series is a definate answer to all the strange and unexplained things in history, but it does open your eyes to some possibilities. Don’t look for a solid, definate answer in the Ancient Aliens series, just open your mind to some possibilities. As i am sure that is all they are trying to achieve.

  • Lmyow

There are just TOO many “anomilies”. These are what scientists call things that don’t fit neatly into their
prepackaged university standard theories. I believe we are at the tipping point, where common sense
tells us there are more to things, & that their tired old theories do not add up — the world is not FLAT!

It’s quite possibly the stupidest show History Channel has made, and that’s no small feat. But it’s perfect for the sloping-foreheaded types in our society who think the misuse of the word “theory” on pathetic excuse of a show has the same meaning as it does when someone who went to school uses it.

I have a Theory that aliens are responsible for the JFK assassination…. lets have a show about that. Its never been fully explained so lets assume they did it as a payback because we shot down one of their craft near Roswell in 1947. Look at all the inconstencies in the “offical” story and no one investigated the alien angle. I have another theory that aliens are behind the miraclous 1969 NY Mets (how do you possibly explain going from last place at the All-Star break to winning the World Series- other than gotta be aliens!). Think of the possibilities I can bring to mainstream America if I’m allowed to have MY show on the History Channel.

The show is very compelling. At least this theory makes more sense than a magical man in the sky making the planet in a week.

I dont buy either one of those stories. Each one is just as unrealistic as the other.

This show is beyond garbage; their theories hold about as much water as a paper bag with a hole in the bottom. I am actually pissed after watching it.

    • Ben

      @I hate ancient aliens

I had the same reaction when watching the show. Unbelievable that the History Channel aired this. In the episode I watched, I couldn’t help but notice that they give a LOT of airtime to authors and editors of various pseudoscience magazines/books, and very little time to actual scientists. And when they DID show snippets of interviews with scientists, it was done in a way that makes it appear as if the scientist agrees with their shite.

Example: The show claims that a small doorway-shaped carving in a rock could have been a wormhole for aliens to pass through and visit Earth. Cut to an actual scientist explaining what a wormhole is, he says something along the lines of “A wormhole is a short-cut from one part of the universe to the other…” or something equally as brief, then they cut back to their bullsh*t speculation about how this rock must be a stargate, activated by a golden disc or something equally as stupid. The obvious intention is to make it appear as if the scientist agrees with their point of view, or at least that science backs it up.

      Ridiculous to say the least

      • Black_day_black_night

I think you just do not want aliens to be real. You would rather this earth be all that there is. Dumb ass ape.

    • Shawn

Actually, scientifically they don’t have theories, they have hypotheses. But then again 98% of supposed human “history” is probably in the same category.

It is an interesting strategy for evaluating the ancient world, though; read the texts, and take the ancients “at their word” so to speak but rule out anything that is impossible (from a secular viewpoint). That’s the old cliche “whatever remains, however unlikely, must be the truth…” axiom.

i guess when erik von daniken podered about the pyramids he found it easier to explain everything with aliens
than take a lesson in fulcrim mechanics and counter weights…sort of lets you know what he thinks about the potental of mankind…w.t. wallington figured it out and he was just a lowly ol carpenter…

    al·ien   /ˈeɪlyən, ˈeɪliən/ [eyl-yuhn, ey-lee-uhn] –noun
    1. a resident born in or belonging to another country who has not acquired citizenship by naturalization ( distinguished from citizen).
    2. a foreigner.
    3. a person who has been estranged or excluded.
    4. a creature from outer space; extraterrestrial.
    –adjective
    5. residing under a government or in a country other than that of one’s birth without having or obtaining the status of citizenship there.
    6. belonging or relating to aliens: alien property.
    7. unlike one’s own; strange; not belonging to one: alien speech.
    8. adverse; hostile; opposed (usually followed by to or from ): ideas alien to modern thinking.
    9. extraterrestrial.

Has it occurred to those so vehemntly opposed to this show that alien in context to the show merely means that which is very removed from our very understanding, or alien to are way of thinking? Exraterrestrail is the last category of definition and a modern day adoption.

Ask the question, why did we put wings on man in images around the world, why are there huge stone cities buried under sand in the highlands of South America, why do we even have a reason to conjure the concept of a stargate to travel to other planets in past times when most people thought the stars were gods sitting up in the heavens and not big balls of gass? In every myth there is a grain of thruth that aligns the sum of the disparate parts, and people… modern science and archeaology is guessing just like everyone else when it comes to how and why.

Have to wonder if the same disgruntled individual is writing all these stupid hate posts under different monikers because it messes with his religion. Reminds me of a friend who was convinced dinosaurs never existed because his Roman Catholic parents told him it was a trick and all the bones were man made by direction of the devil. No amount of convincing, nor trips to Drumheller Tyrel museum would disuade him. Talk about brainwashed!

How can one respect the History after putting on such garbage

    • TheSentinal

I enjoyed the mysteries presented very much. This show would have actually been great if it put forth zero ‘explanations’ or at least only the ones that have serious evidence behind them.

But the sad fact is that the show grabbed up almost EVERY unsolved mystery known to man and attempted to tie them all together into a ‘theory’. I’m surprised there was no mention of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster… I mean aliens MUST be behind those too!  ;)

I do give kudos to the producers for presenting these mysteries in a fairly comprehensive manner (stating facts and sources and giving a decent amount of background information). Again, this would have made a great show in and of itself.

…But looking for aliens as the source of EVERY LAST unexplained investigation? Come on History Channel!  The irony is that if there IS any truth to alien visitations, this show removes most credibility from those presenting the info due to implied association with the mostly wildly speculative crackpots speaking here. That’s the nature of real disinformation.

It would be fun to have Myth Busters spend the next two decades debunking 90% of what was presented in this series. There is, however about 10% left over that is highly interesting and compelling — such as the  ‘airplane’ designs found in ancient excavations that were tested (by real scientists no less) and actually fly…

The one common tactic of all propaganda is presenting actual facts, then twisting them either with creepy music, unsubstantiated implications or highly emotional associations. In this way, the victims of the propaganda accept the actual facts but also are tricked into drawing the wrong conclusions from them. Of course the History Channel excels in this technique as is evidenced by this series…

Anyone who says “you need to keep an open mind” has probably been brainwashed hundreds of times already. Critical thinking and constructive skepticism are essential to making sense out of the world. If the assertions hold up to close scrutiny, only then should we be open and accept them. Otherwise superstition and childish thinking will creep in every time–which is what the proponents of this show accuse our ancestors of!

Ancient Aliens is absolutely a disinformation campaign that has been clearly documented on many fronts.
The show does come off very compelling, but thats the goal of cleverly delivered psychological disinformation. The point of a lie is that it sounds believable. If you study the delivery dynamics of the show, I like how the nararartor continually “begs the question” regarding alien life and the extraterrestrial possibility. In psychology, this art of “begging the question” serves as a manipulative psychological seed in the listener. Trust me, listen to the show again…the brainwashing goal of the show is to plant a seed of possibility within the viewers psyche that will culminate with the elites upcoming fake alien disclosure and possibly fake visitation. Just wait my friends….mark my words…..dont trust this programming.

now you can’t disinfo this shit:Christians believe, that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree. Yeah that makes sense.

I just finished watching the series on NETFLIX and found it very thought provoking. Some explanations are better than no explanations, but that works both ways. One thought that kept occuring to me during the series was that in Sunday School we were always taught that GOD lives in each of us. Maybe they were refering to GOD’s DNA. I will not dismiss the theories as bunk, but will kep an open mind. Who knows it might all be answered for us in 1 year, 6 months and 13 days

Its actually very biased and closed minded really. Most watching wont approch with an analytical mind, maybe cause they WANT to believe. They should have kept the skeptical treatment intact because this show definately distorts facts and pushes unsubstantiated ideas like they were facts. Very deceptive, and purposely so. What a shame.

think about it. Two huge pyramids or maybe even just one. A couple of hills, a couple thousand straining Egyptians, the right amount of wind in the right direction, a couple thousand yards of hemp rope voilà, one launched glider.

There have been so many lost civilizations, languages lost and never known. Cities thousands of years old that  we’ll never know of. If we keep going the way we are going, some alien race just might find our dusty remains.

There is overwhelming evidence for alien intervention in human society, but this series disappoints for the same reason that most newer documentaries disappoint. It seems “dumbed down” for the audience. It’s mostly sensationalism. It’s a pity. it could have been a fantastic series if it provided more of the existing evidence in-depth, especially with such greats like Von Daniken.

I wanted to like this program, but it just doesn’t seem to be serious enough or in-depth enough.

I think you just do not want aliens to be real. You would rather this earth be all that there is. Dumb ass ape.

Again you are a narrow minded prick who is afraid of there being a species more advanced than you.

You should really investigate the difference between the scientific definition of a theory and the common usage of the word.  At best, the ancient aliens thing is a hypothesis, but more reasonably it is more like bald, unfounded speculation based on an argument from ignorance or incredulity.  In other words, “gee some ancient people did x and we don’t know exactly how they did it because it’s a very difficult thing to do so aliens done it.”  Alternatively, “gee these old carvings look like some piece of modern technology, so it must be a depiction of that modern technology. Oh yeah, and aliens done it.”

This is quite different from what physicist do when they discuss theories and hypothesize about things like black holes.
