Florida State Senator Watches Dog Video, Topless Women Online During Abortion Debate

The local news in Florida captured an amusing video of Republican Mike Bennett’s activities on the floor of the state Senate: using his government laptop to surf for soft-core porn and cute animal videos. This was during the debate of a controversial abortion bill. Bennett explained that there had been “confusion” when attempting to view an “email about an item being debated on the Senate floor.” From the Sunshine State News:

      The reason there is a debate is because we have a law that makes it legal to kill a sentient, sensation feeling, humans. This isn't a religious argument, and isn't pro-misgyny, it's an argument supported by science. These things (parasites if you prefer), floating around in their mother's bodies, feel pain, and are humans just like you and me. It's the only law I know of, that forces mother against child. It also forces mother the onus of full responsiblity over her pregnancy, taking away any that the guy had. In the big picture, abortion rights only give men more freedom. I don't know that particular senator's stand on the, but I'm guessing he's probably just voting the party line which is unfortunate (on a personal level I doubt he cares for the terminated babies).

        it's a pointless debate, which has been fabricated to keep each parties livestock in their pens and not looking at anything the politicians actually do, if you look at the statistics from around the world you see that abortion laws don't stop abortions at all.

          Very true, abortion laws don't stop abortions, any more than murder laws stop murder. Perhaps we should legalize murder of adults.

        Don't take this the wrong way, but – Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah. It has all been said before, and when you realize the overall benefits of this on society as a whole, rather than just seeing things from your narrow world-view you might not see it as such a negative. It is ironic that the people that vote against abortion are largely the same ones that vote against a lot of social works programs and other things that people like to lump together under the Welfare banner.

          I would be all for the benefits of abortion ( greater freedom…) except for the fact that it kills infants who are people. In fact there already is a law, that if you kill a pregnant woman, it is considered a double homicide. It's a live human being ( I'm not refering to a zygote) the morning after pill, but at least close to 20 weeks it's a living being (and yes that being is transforming just like most humans do throughout their lives). Also even when abortion was a illiegal in the US, it was always legal in cases where the mother's life was in danger. I am in full support of increased welfare for mothers, no mother should have to terminate their young for financial reasons.

    You know, I have no problem with anyone looking at YouTube videos or watching some naked girls romp around, even when they are on the clock, working for the people, these people have a lot of stress on them and the hopes and dreams of large portions of people riding on their shoulders. However, when it is someone that you could easily see speaking out vehemently about somebody from the opposition doing the same thing, that is when it gets to be too much. Don't worry about the stupid things like this that these people do, chances are you have done the same thing, but rather look for the hypocrisy in everything they say and do on a daily basis. You will see that there are far more pressing issues than someone watching a stupid video or having sex with someone that they aren't married to, or someone that may be of the same sex. Unless you like to pay attention to the distractions that conveniently surface when important things are going on, then by all means…

    This was a very lame post.
    The senator is hardly paying attention to these pics that momentarily appear on the screen, rather he actually seems to be paying more attention to the speaker. It really appears the guys is just navigating past spam, (who doesn't experience this???) in fact he clearly knows he is surrounded and makes no effort to hide the screen.
    The editing of the video serves to try to exaggerate the situation.
    Lamest post i think i've ever seen on this site.
