Welcome to a new feature on Red Star Times, right-wing blog watch. I am introducing this feature for the sake of keeping a close eye on right-wing blogs, ranging from hardline conservative to outright fascist. My first subject of study is Alternative Right, a particularly noxious website that brands itself as “radical traditionalist.” For those who aren’t familiar with the term, radical traditionalist is a term used by hipsters, goths and faux-erudite who espouse fascist ideology but want a term with more intellectual cache.

Radical traditionalist favorites include Oswald Spengler, Julius Evola and Alain de Benoist. Associated (allegedly) political movements include Eurasianism, metapolitics, third positionism and national anarchism. Alternative right is an exemplar of radical traditionalism and fascism in as much as it begins with hatred of minorities, women and the working class and proceeds to construct a bizarre mish-mash of gobbledygook as “ideology” after the fact.

I first came across Alternative Right when a friend of mine posted this article to his Facebook page. After posting a reasoned argument against the groundless nonsense espoused in the article, a predictable shitstorm ensued. The shitstorm was predictable in as much as it happened. What was not predictable was homophobic slurs thrown my way for suggesting that the Holocaust and atomic bombing of civilian populations in Japan might have been a bad thing. It’s worth noting that most of the more inflammatory rhetoric is found not in the articles, but in the comments section. I strongly urge readers to peruse the comments of the articles I post in addition to the articles themselves.

    I read the article and the majority of comments and while I probably don't agree with what Donovon was saying I thought his article was pretty good and it was obvious the points he was trying to make about emasculated men.

    The shitstorm you mentioned though, seemed to be completely absent from the comments section. All I can see are some debates going on where Donovon tries to clear up what he was trying to say, then you get upset that people don't agree with you on your first comment. What a surprise! on a site that is diametrically opposed to your ideology, a fucking shocker…

    I'm suprised Disinfo haven't removed this article as, to me anyway, it just seems that you are trying to blow of some steam after you didn't get anywhere on their website.

      The comments section may have been altered. I stand by what I've written. I would suggest reading the rest of my article, which I'm guessing you haven't. Thinking that I'm blowing off steam because I wasn't listened to by a bunch of fascists is a pretty idiotic and simplistic view. I reported on this as the first part of a series because I think Alt Right and other sites like it should have light shined on them.

      Jonm you need to understand that commies are delusional. In that comment section they probably told that aged-hippy they disagreed with him and he intepreted those objections as death threats, holocaust denying etc.
      Trust me it is not only propaganda, commies are indeed delusional and suffer from persecution mania. :-)

      Jack changed over time. Androphilia is nowhere near the level of silliness that that article is. If you think that the book is similar to the article you clearly haven't read it or don't read very well.

    it's a good article but it uses too much of the “any intelligent person can see” emotionally charged propaganda techniques that we see in right wing radio and tv, I would prefer leaving appeals to the reader out and just focusing on the case

      I disagree, I feel appealing to reason and intellect as it applies to the right wing is the way to go as an examination of their agenda and rhetoric shows it as all but devoid of reason and intellect.

      So yes, I feel that “any intelligent person can see” and “any reasonable person can come to this conclusion” are good phrases to use in this circumstance. So much of the right wing works on hysteric emotional fears, the fear of loss of income and entitlements (even when they say they are against big gov’t), Xenophobia, fear of other cultures and perspectives in general and most of all…since most of the right-wingers are also Xians…the mind-shattering fear that their religion might be false as there are many Xians in this country who are conservative, nationalistic, white, pro-military and also Xian and it’s all wrapped up together. When they are faced with a changing world, and realize America has been the Evil Empire for several years (if not since WWII), when the population gets more and more diverse, when our deficit has ballooned because of our needless military empire and we have perhaps the blood of a half-million Iraqis on our hands and that they wouldn’t recognize Jesus if he came to their door delivering a pizza…these realizations are hard to deal with, so they are becoming more and more unhinged, so they have to keep feeding their ideology with approved sources like Fox News and right wing blogs etc because if they let any information…or DISinformation…in they will have a crisis.

      It’s not easy even entertaining the idea that everything you know may be wrong and that you’ve just been lied to by people who you trust, many of these folks just shut themselves up in their ideological caves until the storm passes. They came out of their holes when the GOP got control of Congress and Will Bill Clinton was the poster child for godless liberals and they thought they were on top of the world during the Bush Admin and could see America well on it’s way to being changed to a Theocracy (and claim the constitution as the rationale as they do today) but now if they look back on that, they’ll see that we are an embarrassment to our founding fathers and Ben Franklin and co would kick Glenn Beck’s ass if he could.

      Appealing to reason and intellect and rationale may be fruitless to those whose programming is too deep when voting Republican and the fate of their eternal soul seems inextricably linked, but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying.

You and other people's fumbling attacks on the site accomplish nothing but adding ammunition to their claims that the far-left acts like politically-correct bull terriers of the establishment who waste time trying to shame and silence the anti-establishment far-right.

      I'm honestly far more interested in what the plutocratic elites are doing. However, I do have a history of focusing on the far right, as I think it's important to shine a spotlight. I would like to see groups like Alt Right silenced. I also don't consider them “anti-establishment.” More like the lunatic fringe of the establishment

    I didn't read his book as I have no interest in the subject matter. Then again I probably don't read as well / am not as well read as yourself, as I'm just a working class moran, but I can definitely tell far-left nonsense just as quickly as I can far-right nonsense.

    It's hardly an exposé to point out that a website that actually identifes itself as right-wing would have comments from far-right ass-holes. Why not expose one of the millions of conspiracy sites that pretend to be Anti-Illumanti/Anti-NWO that are really religious fundamentalist right-wing breeding grounds?

    As a regular reader of this site, I agree that there are certainly some unpleasant anti-semites and arrogant poor-hating libertarians that read this site. However, even on the two issues you mention there will be a wide diversity of opinions among readers. As someone that many left liberals would label a fascist or reactionary, I can certainly say that I don't wish to downplay the Holocaust and that there are some right wingers like Patrick Buchanan who think the atomic bombing of Japan was a bad idea.

    However, there are gross double standards between the right and left and that fuels my dislike of the left as much as anything. For example, left-wing intellectuals are allowed on public radio in most western countries while anymore with alternative right-wing views (say a Buchanan or a Ron Paul) never gets a word in edge ways, and even a blue-dog Democrat like Lou Dobbs can't find an outlet for his opinions outside the Internet.

    If moderate nationalists and populists are silenced by the liberal media, then it's hardly surprising frustrated right wingers will get more angry and extreme.
