How Muslims Are Treated In America (Video)

This video is from a new segment on ABC News a few years back. Accurate? Off-base? Has much changed? Here’s a few details on the story: Ann Sorkowtiz and Julie N. Hays write on ABC News:

The Sept. 11 attacks, the Iraq war and suicide bombings worldwide have changed not only the way we live but the way we look at those around us, especially Muslims. “Islamophobia” has entered the American vernacular, and the anti-Muslim attitudes and prejudice it describes remain common.

But what if you witnessed “Islamophobia” in action and saw someone being victimized because of someone else’s prejudices? What would you do?

  1. My American friends, this does not come as news to anyone – Muslim, non American or what have you- who deals with Americans on a daily basis as i do(i work in the tourism business): If you could only see the arrogance and attitude you generally have with the “other” when you are abroad, you would not be surprised. please, stop acting so shocked.

Islamophobia? Puh-leeze … reminds me of the Soviet Russian government who “diagnosed” their opponents with mental disorders for thinking that communism was evil.

are they treated worse than Christians, or any other faith in a Muslim nation?

Welcome to America, where at least we don't murder Muslims in the street!

i just think its funny that they come here and complain about much better treatment than outsiders could hope for in their homelands. im tired of the faithful of any kind loudly advertising to the rest of us how much better they are and them complaining when they get treated badly.

        • I think it's funny that you assume that “they come here.”

if they are born here and still choose to not blend in then it's part of their lifestyle choice.
it as tiresome as people who want to dress outlandishly and inked and pierced up and still get the 9 to 5 joe job without any problems, i personally love people who go against the grain but it has consequences.

          • Well your mentality is dying out. Soon there won't be an employer who doesn't have a tattoo of his/her own.

In America, it's hardly going against the grain.

It still is in corporate America. Whether or not you have ink and/or piercings, they want them covered.

          • Like I said, dying out…

I'm taking off the jacket I have on right now and am going to take a walk through the corporate headquarters of my fortune 500 company and show off my sleeve. Like I do EVERY DAY. I find that most people who say “this is how it happens in corporate america” don't work in, nor know a thing about, corporate america. Of course, I don't work in a church.

          • And that makes us the land of the free…how?

        • “…much better treatment than outsiders could hope for in their homelands”
They do it to us therefore we can do it to them. That makes it OK ?

      • You're right. We go to their countries and murder Muslims in their streets.

  4. Muslim is the new black

  5. Makes me feel proud, and ashamed, at the same time.

  6. In other news, Muslims in Kansas want a small section of a cemetery set aside for their members. I don't see anything wrong with it. But in keeping with the Islamophobia, check out the comments after the short article. Seriously, Muslims are filthy terrorists because they want space to bury their dead. Completely crazy. Take a look…

  7. move to arizona its nice there!

Hanging is too good for these muslim fellows, i recomend holy war. we need to round them up and make them kneel-en mass and then put them under curfew, make them wear the same clothes and then then stone them if they are women and commit adultery and chop their hands off if they steal shit. Then make them go at least once in their life to the same place where they get entered in a trampling death lottery. When will these religuous infidels learn that there decadent eastern ways are not appreciated here. we need to send them back to their own country like the irish, pilgrim fathers, native americans, spanish and people sold by africans.

  9. A better example of the stupidity of the people who engage in xenophobic hysterics would be the PR efforts that were necessary for the Sikhs in my hometown. They endured a lot of frothing rage from illiterate Fox-crazed pseudo patriots after 9/11…it took them more than a year to pound home that they were not radical Muslim invaders plotting a takeover…they were Sikhs looking to enjoy the freedom to be Sikhs in a country where that wasn't supposed to be a crime.

But you can't blame people here for being confused…after all, thanks to thorough research and accurate news sources, it was clear that brown people with turbans are inherently evil. How could they be expected to think otherwise?

I like our local Sikhs…and watching retards from my community demonize them without any justification actually hurt to watch. Watching public leaders, politicians or pundits, throw fuel on that fire hurt even more.

I'm all for opposing terrorism and oppressive religions…but it can be done even handedly and well…without degenerating into a pack of foaming rabid morons in the process.
