Interviews From Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” Rally

The recent rally led by Glenn Beck brought together an interesting assortment of characters. The New Left Media recorded various interviews with some of the attendees. More interesting than the claims they make, most had wrong or speculated information, yet not a single person cited a source from where their information was coming from. Of course except the one women who receives her immigration “facts” from her sister.

damn retards this clip reminds me of heavy metal parking lot hopefully we can look back and laugh at these tards a decade from now . the cacksuker at ten minutes in is a ignorant fuk!! i am sure his white ass nows what the Indians felt like

    • Guest

At least the kids in “Heavy Metal Parking Lot” were drunk or stoned. These idiots are stone cold sober. And they vote.

  • GoodDoktorBad

“All I know is what my sister tells me……”

Too bad your sister is not a genius…..

Maybe Churchill was onto something when he said the best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.

    • Vox Penii

What's your source for that Churchill statement?

I'd be shocked if Churchill ever said any such thing. He led the British people through one of the most harrowing episodes in recent memory, when they fought specifically against antidemocratic totalitarianism, asking a lot of them because he thought they were capable of the fight.

Oh the irony of your making an uncited claim in this context.

      • A Bad Joke

        He actually said it.

        • Tuna Ghost

Can you provide a source? And I don’t mean a website that attributes it to him, I mean a name of a book or speech or something that it is reportedly within.

          • Nw15062

Its funny but even Plato’s Republic makes the same argument, when a person is truly democratic he will choose his activities on a whim, to not vote because it takes time, to not learn because it is too much like work to drink the day away because it spirits him. These are the true threats to Democracy, ignorance, selfishness, gluttony. It is no surprise it s fallen apart, what surprises me is it took so long.

          • connie dobbs

It didn’t “take so long”. It just took the mass communication of the internet to see it. See USA 1917-1933 for a blatant example of the tyranny of the majority.

      • Tuna Ghost

Why would it be shocking? For a man who spent as much time in politics as he did, who wielded as much power and influence as he did, I can easily imagine him saying it. I can also believe him saying “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for every other form that has ever been tried”. The fact that he supported Britain through the second World War doesn’t mean jack.

      • Snufkin

It’s a quote commonly attributed to Churchill, although difficult to pinpoint exactly where, when and in what context he said it.

He asked a lot of them during WWII because he had no other choice (unless you count surrender, which was no choice at all), not because he thought the brits were up for the task. What’s he going to do, move England?

      • Fourhundred20

Churchill said that stupid. He also said democracy was the worst form of government except for all the others

  • Andtowhatdoiowe

The old guy at the end seemed kind of cool to be honest. why'd they have to embarrass him like that :(

  • oman28

Fear bred products of the far right propaganda machine.

  • justagirl

it appears the “new left media” had specific targets in their various interviews. the entire rally couldn’t possibly be comprised of these sorts.

    • connie dobbs

I’m sure the total attendance was larger than this small subset, and everyone else got a mouthpiece on Fox Swen. They won’t put people like these on there, so someone had to give them the spotlight. :)

      • justagirl

CONNIE!! i think you dropped a jalapeño in your panties…

  • Sjmaltz

As it stand they targeted these people and edited this information to put the message across that most of the people attending this rally are not educated. You want to know where free speech is not allowed. Go to Dearborn, MI. You want to know where our rights are disappearing how about the Gun Bill Pelosi is trying to push through. Why in the world would you want to make it more difficult for someone to legally buy a gun? Its my right as an American to be able to purchase a gun and defend myself at any cost. The only thing the Gun Bill woudl do is drive people to purchase guns Illegally more often because it would be less of a hassle. Also this Health Care that we are going to be given Universally is bullshit. Check out what has happend to Social Security BANKRUPT!!! Thats exactly what will happen with Health Care because Washington does not know how to appropriate money. Also if you do not have health care they will force you to pay for it out of pocket. What happens if you have to make the decision on either I feed my kids or I pay for health care. Fuck health care Im feeding my kids. What you got on that Leftist.

    • Tuna Ghost

“You want to know where free speech is not allowed. Go to Dearborn, MI”

Until last year I lived right next to Dearborn. What the fuck are you talking about?

“Why in the world would you want to make it more difficult for someone to legally buy a gun?”

Too many idiots with guns in this country, for one. But I do realize that of everyone I know who owns a gun, only 1 of 7 owns it legally, so I’m not sure how any gun bills would affect people owning guns.

” What happens if you have to make the decision on either I feed my kids or I pay for health care”

Well you’ve made quite a few mistakes in your life to be in that position, for one. For another, what happens when your kid gets mono and just the damn diagnosis is at least $300 bucks, let alone the treatment? Yes the health bill as it stands now seems pretty retarded, and that’s more or less because it was watered down (by whom, I wonder…) to the ridiculous ghost of what it started as. Universal health care can work, it works in several other countries.

      • connie dobbs

You need to change “several other countries” to “most of the developed world”.

    • Liam_McGonagle

I will keep this simple, Sjmaltz, because, judging by what you’ve written above, you seem either angry or stupid: The Health Care Reform Act is Right; YOU ARE WRONG.

      Quote: “. . . . Fuck health care Im [sic] feeding my kids. . . . ”

You strangely seem to believe that you can somehow avoid healthcare costs by an act of discretion. As if your kid’s broken arm would magically heal itself free of charge, and that the money to treat it wouldn’t have to come from your wallet anyhow.

I know this comes as a huge shock to you. I remember meself when I found out that Santy Claus didn’t exist. I was crushed.

But I was 7 at the time. And you’re, what, all of 36 or more? Must be devastating for you to find out that there is no magic.

    • David Frost

Thats great!..and I do mean that sarcastically. Apparently if your children ever become seriously ill, I guess we should all hope that they go peacefully and painlessly for something that could have been avoided to begin with…and then the authorities should nail you for the negligent homocide that you would be guilty of at that point. This is especially so since you seem to be more worried about buying a gun than taking care of your families health. I hope social services takes your kids away because they deserve parents that are actually willing to take them to the doctors if need be. If you are poor enough to only choose one or the other there are places both public and (since you seem to be a right winger) private that can provide you with food….there aren’t enough free clinics though.

      • connie dobbs

thank the GODS there aren’t more free clinics saving poor people’s lives! Heaven forbid sjmaltz’s kids reach adulthood! Just imagine how awful it would be if this persons children were actually allowed to become citizens of the US?

No seriously, they’ll make it, but without health care your life expectancy goes down to about 1850 level, that is to say, don’t make any long term investments.

        • David Frost

          lmao…Nice!

I do feel sorry for the poor kids though, they deserve better.

  • Word Eater

“I don’t believe Glenn Beck ever said that.”

Let’s go to the video http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/28/fox-host-glenn-beck-obama_n_246310.html

  • Word Eater

I do not see how those people interviewed appeared any less educated or more ignorant than anyone else in the country.

Just because you attend an event does not mean that you have to be an expert on everything involving the speakers. It is not possible to follow all of the news about people and what they have or have not said. Even if that person is an ideologue that you almost worship.

Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are essentially rock stars. People follow them and like them but only vaguely know what they actually stand for. They are the faces onto which these people project their own beliefs.

The folks interviewed are average, normal, human beings who happen to think in a way that others find archaic and humorously uninformed.

  • Tuna Ghost

To be fair (and Beckians make me consider violence as an acceptable means of political expression, make no mistake), many of these people have valid complaints–unemployment, the shitty economy, bank bailouts and the like–and they are recieving easy answers from Beck and his ilk. Stupid, racist, and ultimately very problematic answers, sure, but where else can they go? Chomsky compares this situation to Weimar Germany…but that’s exactly what he would do, so nobody is very surprised to hear it.

Anyway: these people deserve real answers to their complaints. Why did I lose my house when the bank that owned it got billions of dollars from the government? Why did I get laid off after 20 years of hard work when the bank CEOs who fucked everything up still got huge bonuses? How come the President’s “economic recovery team” is full of people that ought to have been subpeonaed for their involvement in the banking scandal? What can I do about all this?

“Their america” that they want to return to is just a figment of their imagination, sure, but they have real problems that deserve to be addressed.

  • Tuna Ghost

Can you provide a source? And I don’t mean a website that attributes it to him, I mean a name of a book or speech or something that it is reportedly within.

Am I the only one who noticed the striking similarity of opinions? I don’t mean striking as in they all felt the same way but striking as in they were all saying variations of the same exact catch phrases I have heard peddled on fox news every single day.
I know it would be difficult but I would like to know how many of the people who went receive the vast majority of their “news” from fox news. I put on fox last night just to hear their commentary on the guy who held 3 hostages at the Discovery Channel building yesterday because he did not like their programming and wanted to see more shows about endangered animals, global warming, and pollution.
In 30 minutes of watching (that’s all I could handle) I saw them blame Al Gore, Barack Obama, Nancy Peloci, and Progressives in general.

  • Anthony

They may have hand picked these ppl for this video, however all these ppl were there, and are so deeply misinformed, that it is really quite shocking, especially since not one person on these interviews will ever do research to help guide them to any actual facts. They would rather believe in lies than in truth.

Never underestimate the grass roots comedic power of fat, stupid, stinky, inbred, cousin fucking, goat roping, redneck, hillbilly, fucktards in large numbers. I believe Jerry Springer said it best during a particularly enlightening episode of White Trash Megalomania Theater when he decried, and I am paraphrasing here…”what the fuck is wrong with you people?” Or something like that.

  • malatesting123

just give them Texas. Just give it to em’.

    • connie dobbs

YES! They can have the whole south between Tampa and NoVa! Just take it, shoot each other, make up new gods, sleep with your relatives, and drink all the contaminated water and eat all the frankenfood you want! Seriously, I believe that the single payer plan failed, not because of Republican influence, but by medical experts who said “Look, there’s no way in hell we can afford to care for all the fat asses down south. We gotta either raise taxes, drop single payer, or let them secede.”

Unfortunately, they chose option #2. #3 would have been the one I would have went for.

This concerns me, the Tea party is propagating myth and hype, never underestimate the mob. Stupid opinionated people can be just as dangerous as any other threat. It really shows the dumbing down of America at its worst, everyday more information is available and yet we learn less and less. Plato wrote about this aspect of democracy to the right to do as one please usually means he will do what his whims are, learning is work so I will not learn, drink is fun so I will drink, I like what he is saying so I will say it too. The freedom to be stupid means some people will choose to be.

Glen Beck has but one concern- divide the poor and middle classes. Divide them, bring in those with poor education, bring in those who believe whatever the TV tells them to. The Middle Class who refuses to believe his hate filled speech? They are enemies. They seek to further the *gasp* Socialist agenda!

Except for one thing, and one thing only- Socialists seek freedom and prosperity for all. Glenn Beck preaches hatred and intolerance! We speak of acceptance and brotherhood! We speak of reducing Corporate power! He speaks of increasing it!

Let the truth speak for itself. Who increases Corporate control? Both parties. Who drives the living standards into the ground? Both parties. Why not let a third party arise? A party who has the people at heart?
