Body Parts of 9/11 Victims Map Used To Oppose ‘Ground Zero Mosque’

Fox News often takes things a step too far, but to use a map of the distance where human remains were found as an argument against a mosque, is just uncalled for. Via RawStory:

Rupert Murdoch’s media empire has set what may be a new standard of shamelessness by marking the anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks with the publication of a map of human remains originally developed by the New York Fire Department in 2002.

“Here’s the chilling proof that Ground Zero stretches well beyond the boundaries of the World Trade Center site,” Murdoch’s New York Post boasted. “The map was obtained by The Post from sources after the Fire Department did not respond to requests to review it. It shows that remains were found just 348 feet to the south of the mosque site at 45 Park Place.”

An even more ominous version of the same map, with lurid red dots glowing like puddles of freshly-spilled blood against a dark background, was deployed by the hosts of Fox News’ Fox & Friends on Friday morning.

The map indicates that human remains or traces of DNA were concentrated directly at the former World Trade center site, but there are a few dots further away, including three between 350 and 400 feet — about one and a half city blocks — from the proposed site of an Islamic cultural center

Well…thats a macabre gesture from a faction that spends a lot of time uttering phrases about the need to respect the dead. Not that I ever thought there was a depth they wouldn’t sink to…there isn’t…because Murdoch’s empire was built on the belief that explosive exploitative tabloid behavior is what people want…and he should give it to them.

That’s not the whole story! Air molecules that the victims breathed in their last moments are still circulating in the atmosphere! There is NO WHERE ON EARTH THAT IS NOT GROUND ZERO!!!!!

I hope they’ve crossed a line that’ll spread outrage far and wide. I wonder what those 9-11 families against the mosque think about this exploitation. Honestly, this is surprising, even for Fox.

Oh for the love of–this isn’t Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

A relatively small number of people were killed in a horrific act of terror. The US has “retaliated” against the attacks and matched, then surpassed the death toll many times over.

So… we only value red-blooded American human life not those dirty foreigners.

I sure people more than 1135 feet from ground zero will feel a sense of relief that they destory their clothes etc. because they might have bits of dead people stuck to them. As for people closer than that, who were outside, or left a window open, or had a car parked nearby, ew, sometime it is really better not to know.

    My opinion is split:

I think this is tasteless in the extreme.

I also think this is a brilliant way to sell newspapers…

I have a map of the United States with a red dot for every Native American killed by the European invaders. Would you know there are Xian Churches built with just a few feet of some of them?

    Yes, I was shocked, too.

    Let the bible-burnings begin.

Someone suggested that this was originally an Onion story that the editors felt was too off color to print and decided to sell it to Fox News.
