The most curious thing to me about this Sarah Palin/Mama Grizzly phenomenon is that it seems to be a widespread manifestation of what, for lack of a more accurate term, we might call “right wing feminism.”

The second-wave feminism that came to prominence in the 1960s was STRONGLY Marxist in origin, arguing for an upheaval of traditional social mores and gender roles as a means to bring about a complete transformation of society. Essentially, these feminists applied the Materialist Dialectic to a new context: instead of the bourgesoise (supposedly) exploiting the proletariat, the patriarchy now (supposedly) exploited women (nevermind the pesky facts that women live longer than men and that never-married women have tended to outearn never-married men since at least the 1970s (see Sowell’s “Search for Cosmic Justice”) … Marxist revolutionaries have never let the facts get in the way of their vision). To see exactly how entwined Marxism and second wave feminism were, read Kate Weigand’s book “Red Feminism: American Communism and the Making of Women’s Liberation.” Second wave feminists were openly hostile towards motherhood and marriage (e.g., Betty Friedan describing housewives as “parasites”). The only major feminist who showed any respect for traditional values was Camille Paglia who is too iconoclastic to be classified as a “second wave” feminist, and who is persona no grata to many prominent feminists because Paglia has the balls to support _all_ choices for women.

Now that second wave feminism has lost much of whatever credibility it once had due to excessive demands and hateful, anti-male rhetoric, this Mama Grizzly trend is apparently women on the other side of the political spectrum organizing to support their version of femininity and activism. No surprise that the supposedly egalitarian left is resorting to mockery rather than reasoned debate; (e.g., t-shirts reading “Sarah Palin is a Cunt” sold by clever lefty college students at the same time that Hillary Clinton boohooed how her critics were misogynists). Such double-standards are characteristic of much modern leftist rhetoric: as Herbert Marcuse, the “Father of the New Left” wrote back in the 1960s, “Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right, and toleration of movements from the Left‛

      double standards welcome to politics.
it’s why you see anti gov conservatives increasing the size of government
and spending, and increasing governmental powers. it’s all one big con

    • Andrew

Is tolerance of intolerance tolerance or intolerance?

    • gemmarama

you MIGHT call it “right-wing feminism”, but you’d be wrong.

these crazy bitches look more to me like the aggressively submissive “surrendered wives” type. it’s all for the children, you see.

the rest of your rant is irrelevant, as ever.

oh and i thought sarah palin WAS a cunt? did i miss something?

Since when does Lady Gaga and Sex and the City 2 represent strong and powerful women? The former is a woman so out of control that is looked up to by so many girl, and the later, is just scene after scene of cock shots, uber-typical slutty American women in a foreign land that is made to look like its barbarism is hardly hidden by its modern day facade. What a farce! Strong women don’t need tea-bags…. Know what i mean?
