McDonald’s Tells Employees They Must Vote Republican For Raises

Whoops, turns out it’s actually illegal to bribe/threaten your employees into voting the way your company wants. ThinkProgress writes:

This election season, a local McDonald’s franchise in Canton, Ohio is telling employees how to keep the company happy: vote Republican. Along with their recent paychecks, employees received a pamphlet on company letter head that stated “if the right people are elected we will be able to continue with raises and benefits at or above our present levels. If others are elected we will not.”

  It’s funny to hear that line, because it’s bluntly wrong, from this point of view. Obama is only socialist compared to Republicans, compared to most other industrialized countries, he’s still pretty right wing. The “socialized medicine” played right into big business pockets, looking far more right-wing than social left.
  As for Muslim… there’s absolutely no proof of this, down to his birthplace, place of worship, and people around him. But it persists.. because of… republican “truths”?

  Why can’t Americans understand the difference between a US-style bureaucracy and socialism? Socialism is defined as a system in which workers own the means of production, which is clearly not the intention of Obama. Socialism tends to yield bureaucracies by its nature, but that doesn’t mean that all bureaucracies are therefore socialist. Calling the Wall Street-friendly Obama a socialist is merely a display of wilful ignorance.

I don’t think it was appropriate for the managers to do this, but I don’t see any threat or bribery. I think if anything the managers are trying to make themselves and their employees more prosperous, though I think they are far too confident in their Republican politicians to cut governmental costs and taxes and promote free trade. Then again, McDonald’s also benefits greatly from government intervention in the form of agricultural subsidies.

McDonalds, should have left the names off the letter. Otherwise McDonalds is stating a fact that their operating cost is going up due to politicans-)republicans,democrats,or Tea Party). Actually it is too late for the employees vote to make a difference. The time to vote was 2 and 4 years ago. Socialized med. is here&here to stay-atleast in our lifetime. For McDonalds to save millions of $$$ from the new health care system they could have their employees work 29 hours a week or not offer health care at all, and pay the fine. Just to name a few ways. Of course McDonalds will look bad, but this is a business decision.

Lets all at least remember that this was the act of a franchise owner…not the industry itself. The actual lawyers who work for McDs know enough basic election and labor law to prevent an act this stupid…but when a franchise owner with a minimal understanding of the law gets a bug up his butt and thinks he can throw his weight around like the fat kid on the playground…shit like this happens. It should be dealt with in the same time honored way that the aforementioned fat kid is dealt with…beat the everloving crap out of him til he lives in fear of offending again.

I won’t blame the whole corporation for the actions of a small franchise…but they should strip his rights to act as their franchise owner in that area…reclaim the properties…no refund or paybacks…and that worthless prick should be dragged away in handcuffs and shoved into a cell…preferably with some of that waterboarding his crowd loves so much to determine if he’s being truthful or divulging all the facts in a timely manner, then show trialed and given the death sentence for treason and anti-American activities. Basically…give the douchebag a sweet sweet taste of the conservatard heaven he adores.

There’s got to be some real irony to this. In past history, for the last 100+ years, the wages of workers have risen minimally, if at all, from right-wing sources. On the other hand, left-wing have had a dramatic effect on wages. Too bad voting Democrats is barely voting left-wing, only in comparison to Republican, which are extreme right…
