Simpsons: Fox News ‘Not Racist, But #1 With Racists’

The boundary-pushing Simpsons team risk the wrath of Rupert Murdoch and his News Corp minions by bashing Fox News Channel (remember that the Fox network carries The Simpsons). As well as having a dig at FNC, the gang also suggest there’s a mainstream media conspiracy to create one crisis or another to take our minds off what’s “really” happening (as if!, right?).       I heard they managed to get a clause in their contract that Fox couldn’t censor them, on the other hand Murdoch himself has participated in some of these gags.

    A little self-bashing has been a sort of tradition with FOX -via The Simpsons. It makes the unbalanced loyal Fox viewer feel the network is “Fair and Balanced”. Gee, those folks at Fox have a great sense of rumor- humor…

      That’s the flip side of satire: the target can always rationalize it as ‘mere comedy’ and if they’re footing the bill for it, even take credit, as you say, for being “Fair and Balanced”.

      Harry Shearer has never made any secret of his contempt for Murdoch. And while the Fox hierarchy seem content to fuck around with Harry’s career and contracts around the edges, I don’t think they invest a whole lot of energy in a sustained campaign to destroy him personally.

      Though I could be wrong. It’s been a while since I’ve followed Le Show or any of Harry’s other projects on a close basis.

    I’m sure Murdoch doesn’t mind. He only seems to be using Fox as a way to ingrain himself with the Northeast Establishment while making a joke the Republican party. How anyone who considers themselves conservative or Republican can watch a network owned by a guy who openly supported the candidacies of Hillary and Obama is a mystery to me.

    wouldn’t this work both ways? I am 90% sure I failed year 3 spanish in high school because of staring at women every day.
