Florida Truck Dealership Gives Out Free AK-47s With Vehicle Purchases

A truck dealership in Florida is firing up sales with the promise of a rapid-fire machine gun.

Customers have been streaming into Nations Trucks in Sanford, near Orlando, purchasing two dozen vehicles since the sale campaign began on Veterans Day last week. Each new truck owner also walks out with a free AK-47. “We’ve tripled our business,” general sales manager Nick Ginetta told AOL News. “We knew it would be controversial, but it’s been a phenomenal response.”

An image of the semiautomatic rifle is taped to the showroom’s window to lure shoppers. Buyers receive a $400 voucher good for one Kalashnikov at Shoot Straight, a weapons dealer with several locations in the Sunshine State.

All prospective gun owners must meet state and federal gun-control laws, but Ginetta has still drawn fire from anti-gun activists and alarmed neighbors. “I’ve had calls from mothers who say, ‘You’re giving my son a machine gun.’ But once I explain exactly how it works, people are understanding,” he said.

If drivers don’t want to bear arms, Ginetta will apply the money to the price of the truck or give them cash back. But he said most people opted for the Romanian-made AK-47 model, famous for its durability in extreme environments.

    Why do ignorant people try to write articles. A semi-automatic AK-47 (which this surely is) is NOT a machine gun. With cops on a murder spree across the country I would feel much safer if more of my neighbors were well armed.

    I don’t get why people even oppose this. Technically, the odds of the weapon being employed gainfully for self defense are significantly lower than the odds of an idiot eliminating himself or his immediate family from the gene pool. Giving the guns away is like pushing evolution along. We’re buckling under the burden of fast breeding idiots…letting a few more take themselves out of the mix is well worth the risk of some stray fire. Let the world’s Dick Cheneys shoot each other in the face until the rest of us can enjoy some peace and quiet.

    This leads me to believe his customers are new to gun ownership. The Romanian AK (WASR models) are bought damaged or in pieces from Romania, imported to the US, and very poorly reassembled with a semi firing group by several dopey companies (namely, CAI), then sold without testing. I have never seen any AK actually jam except Romanian imports. I’d rather just take the $400, then use it on a brand new Russian Saiga AK for $300.
    Making it “rapid fire” requires extensive background investigation, a >$300 tax stamp, and an automatic AK itself often costs well over $15,000. Probably buying an automatic AK and getting a free truck would make more sense if the first line of the article was true.

    also, as a responsible gun owner (no, I don’t believe regular folks need to own full auto weaponry, and I believe that the best safety is common sense gun handling)I’d like to say the following.
     typical die hard anti-gun crusaders here display their chronic misunderstanding and ignorance of guns. This is a semi-auto ak-47 type rifle. Semi-auto means fires ONE (and ONLY one) bullet each time the  trigger is squeezed). The real AK is full auto (fires bullets as long as you hold down the trigger until it runs out of ammo)…. neither is a Machinegun, though as an assault rifle the fully automatic AK47 is still a very serious piece of hardware. Ask your kids who play CoD, they’re probably better informed about guns than you are lady.
