Media Roots TV: Is Obama’s Support Warranted? (Video)

Obama: Change We Can Believe In?Via Media Roots:

The Obama campaign mobilized one of the largest grassroots movements for a presidential candidate in recent history, and the SF bay area was a hub of support for Obama during election time.

Now two years into his presidency, Media Roots set out to see if people are tuned into their favorite candidate’s actions — and if his actions warrant their support.

Media Roots conducts on the spot interviews with people in Berkeley and Oakland, CA about their support for President Barack Obama.

Support for Obama absolutely is NOT warranted.

I’ve just written to the Democratic party website asking for something like a party constitution or procedural for terms of membership. I want to start a petition drive to get his sorry ass kicked out of the party that he stabbed in the back.

I’m ashamed to admit it now, but I cut Obama A LOT of slack. I realize how intransegent the “Party of No” can be, so I spilled a lot of ink defending him.

But for Obama to do a 180 degree after the midterm and fuckin’ get down on his knees and slobber all over Mitch McConnell’s jimmy in some back-door tax giveaway deal for millionaires that will most assuredly nullify any chance of success for the Democratic platform for AT LEAST the next two years is utter fucking treachery and cannot be tolerated. The party must have some goddamned discipline.

I just don’t know how to describe Obama’s behaviour as anything other than craven cowardice and a stab in the back to guys like Bernie Sanders who spent eight hours at a crack on their feet, working their asses off to move the agenda forward.

it’s sad but it’s a fact that politicians serve economic elite no matter which party they reprasent or whatdogma thay spout, money runs the show, voters are just units of currency.

You’re often right, and you’ve been right about Obama before. But I’m not just gonna forget about this one.

In fact, I suspect Obama/Clinton would love it if we just forgot about this one. In their minds it would just confirm their previously latent bias–that electoral success is the end-all-and-be-all, not moral commitment or real world consequences of their actions. “Fuck you, Leftist muthafukkers. My poll numbers are up, ain’t they?”

But the other shoe from this financial collapse hasn’t dropped yet. I’ve been wrong before in guessing precisely when it will drop, but drop it will. Undoubtedly. At some point even the stupidest fuck will have to hear the morning market report and wonder, “How come I ain’t gettin any of those gains?” and come to realise that they’ve been had in the most insulting way possible.

And that will be the day that America’s thumb-sucking passivity will end.

Wicked choices for the intro and outro music. Two of my favorite artists!

“because he’s black” is a really poor reason to support Obama. He’s just a man.

In theory, its great that a “black” man can become president. I’d like to think its a step in the right direction, but he’s still just a man. I don’t care what race he is. His race is irrelevent to the job he does or the broken promises
he made. He said he’d pull troops out of Afghanistan, instead there are more troops there. Stop torture? Didn’t happen….etc, etc.
Nothing has changed, sorry folks -you have been duped and the jokes on you….enjoy the puppet show!

Looking forward to more (like this) Abby!

  11. You would have to go to SF to find this kind of support for Obama. This sort of groupthink is nothing if not terrifying.
