  • that1guy

On the one hand, awesome. On the other hand, it was set up(you can see the eel trying to get away an being reeled back in). So there’s an electric eel and a crocodile out there that didn’t have to die but did. Hope at least they got a good meal out of it and not just an interesting video.

    • Eno1286

I don’t think it was intentionally set up. Yeah, the guy was fishing, and happened to hook an eel. The gator saw it thrashing and wanted in on the action. I would have done what the guy did. Wait it out. Would it have been for him to reel the electric eel in and either electrocute himself, or encourage the gator to come close to him?

    • Giggles

Why does everything that is awesome on the internet have to be fake to naysayers?

      • Dolefullions

We have been conditioned to not believe amazing things, the suppression of the amazing and it’s belief in such is nearly complete.

      • that1guy

Yeah, I never thought it was fake, as in, not fake animals. Also, after reading some of the above comments, it seems entirely likely dude was just fishing, caught an eel, then the gator rolled in to eat it. So, my mistake really.
Still, I hope they ate it all. Reptiles are tasty.

      • Wurmwood2013

I know, right? Every awesome video on the internet has at least one jack-ass in the comments section goin’ “Fake!”; as if awesome things don’t really happen and people don’t occasionally catch them on video, even in an age where cameras are as ubiquitous as they are today.

    • Red Rye Ink

I hope they did it just for the amusement, and not to get a good meal. All things die, so why not for my amusement?

  • that1guy

  • Anitrasdance

This is not a “set up”. It happened in Brazil, the guy was camping and saw this happening. The eel was attacked first, it got badly hurt. The gator (or, jacare in Brazil, a smaller kind of alligator more precisely) was giving the final bite and received the deadly shock. At the end the camera guy is calling his friend to see it. A SET UP? I mean, this is nature, eels shock gators and big fishes all the freaking time, IS THEIR DEFENSE SYSTEM. I’m Brazilian by the way.

    • Celticmik3

Nah its a fake, the alligator is obviously epileptic.

    • Jess

Actually if you payed any attention to the video you would notice that the eel is on a string. The guy is pulling the eel around and out of the water to have the alligator attack it. Eels don’t come out of water. This may be something that happens in nature BUT this one was clearly set up. So next time watch the video.

      • Tyler

It’s called fishing (yes, not everywhere has grocery stores contrary to popular belief), and was not setup. They just caught an eel and its struggle attracted the gator… and he decided to film it when he noticed what was going to happen. Not set up..

you guys who think this is real are morons, its a setup. Alligators are fresh water creatures, Crocodiles are salt water creatures. The fact that this is an Alligator and not a Crocodile confirms this logic. Also Electric Eels are Saltwater. The tip of the Alligators snout confirms it is not a crocodile. That also does not look like a beach or an inlet either.
