This is retarded. Obviously she didn’t get enough Salvia in her system, or she wouldn’t be talking about her boyfriend and giggling… she’d be holding on for dear life and tripping her tits off. Her friends are annoying as well, treating the whole ordeal like a circus sideshow. No respect for the drug. If Miley Cyrus really wants to trip, I can set her up with some DMT. As it stands though, this video is just going to give the drug a bad rap, just like every other “idiot teenagers getting high” video that gets posted on Youtube. If you’re gonna film yourself doing drugs, at least post up the INTERESTING trips. I want to hear Miley Cirus go all Joe Rogan and start raving about her contact with extraterrestrials, elves and becoming one with the Universe.

What about if *I* really want to trip? I’ve never tried anything (not even cannabis!) – I’ve got some hawaiian baby woodrose seeds I bought some weeks ago and I’m just waiting for the right timing to try it with a friend – and I’d love me some DMT. First thing on my to-do list for when I win the lotto is going to Peru and trying some ayahuasca with serious ambiance.

      • Aleph Omega

Gil – good luck with the tripping. Some people are fine with handling hallucinogens, others not so much. The determining factor, at least in my mind is the genuine desire to do them, as well as an intense curiosity… and the intellectual capacity to actually process the experience probably helps too. I think everyone should try them at least once in the correct environment. As Terrence McKenna said, living your life without ever having a psychedelic experience is much like going your grave without having had sex… you’d really be missing out on what it’s all about. Baby Woodrose is LSA… if you take them, use a good extraction technique, as I’ve heard the coating can make you sick. Also check into DMT Nexus. But I recommend easing into psychedelics. And for God’s sake, smoke a joint or something before trying something like DMT or Salvia… I mean, not totally necessary, but probably a good idea.

While, from a moral and political standpoint, I think all drugs should be decriminalized, a person would be wise to consider all drugs to be dangerous to some extent. My best personal advice, 1. Don’t do it. It’s against the law, 2. If you do it anyway, don’t underestimate the chemical and don’t take the results it too seriously. To paraphrase disinfo’s patron saint, you either leave the chapel perilous agnostic or insane. 3. read this, http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/faqs/psychedelic_experience_faq.shtml.

I’ve never had too much fun on salvia. It’s more weird, if anything. I’d recommend LSD or psilosybin mushrooms to someone really trying to ‘trip’. Or DMT for those of you who want a short, intense trip. But start small, and just remember that yo’ ass is just trippin’.
    Stay safe!

I’ve done salvia a few times and I’ve sat for a lot of people. This girl is not on salvia. Giggling is one thing – a lot of people for whom I’ve sat have had giggle fits – but salvia giggles are distinct (and kind of haunting).

I don’t do salvia anymore, for several reasons, but I despair when I see people like Miley Cyrus drawing attention to such things. Some girls still look up to her and they are all too young to be using anything like salvia – age doesn’t even matter; if you’re looking up to Miley Cyrus you could be 80 and still too young to go around using entheogens.

It will be another round of scheduling efforts by state and federal governments. Thanks for everything, Miley.

Not that I really care about the girl, but in fairness she was doing it in private.

Done salvia a couple of times and sat for a few people as well. I’ve done shrooms, and LSD and nothing comes close (not even my really bad trip on LSD that ended in the hospital) to the experience on salvia. I thought I had transcended the physical world and to this day believe what I felt is what I’m going to feel again once this body dies.

She “tripping” because she’s expected to. I know people react differently to substances from person to person, but I’ve never seen anyone act this retarded on salvia. Granted I have seen people act this retarded but it’s because they are seeking attention and it matters not what substance they were using.

My brother wondered if this behavior might actually result in her creating music worth hearing. I had to scrap the idea because there’s no way to accurately gauge any changes. After all…if you start off with no talent of any kind, how can we tell if any vague improvement is related to drug use…or just age and experience? Almost making it moot…I couldn’t stand the idea of listening to her long enough or intently enough to discern any changes in talent…so forget that experiment. Some answers just weren’t meant to be found.

That’s just what we need; a “craze” to scare parents and give the DEA the momentum they need to illegalize the stuff.

I’ve done salvia numerous times. The trip can be intense, but it’s inwardly-focused and fragile, like a dream. Noises, people in the room &c will shake you out of it immediately. It’s not a party drug or marijuana analog.

Salvia is a serious drug, legal in various strengths at headshops. to experience full trip one would need to empty lungs of air, fill lungs with smoke, and hold for as long as you possibly can, then let go, perhaps repeat up to about 5 times. The experience can change one for a lifetime and is used in serious shamanic initiation. Willy-nilly use is not recommended, spiritual advisors should be present, set and setting compassionately considered. No smoke is healthy. Buyer beware.

In 2002, Australia was the first country to make it illegal. Done so by lazy, unelected officials based on a “report” that was copy/pasted from the newsgroup alt.drugs. Despite the science in this report being incorrect (as it was essentially ‘made up’ by some guy on usenet 7 years prior); Salvia was made a ‘schedule 9′ controlled substance. With no evidence offered as to why, no public consultation, not even an announcement.

  • Hadrian999

Salvia is really incapable of becoming the ‘next big drug’ – It only lasts 2 minutes, is an extremely overpowering and introverted experience and quickly repeated use really gives the user no extra effects. Also, the come down is pretty uncomfortable. Its great for an extremely mental 2 minutes but in regards the effects of other social drugs, it is really just a peculiarity.

Also, I don’t know about the US but it is available to buy in shops all over the EU for years – It hasn’t ‘Taken Off’ yet and doesn’t look like it will.

Its a pity this video has been released, because there will surely be a knee jerk reaction by a few mid range politicians in the US.

That knee-jerk reaction has happened in Ohio, where possession of Salvia has been made a felony!

Several decades ago this same legislature criminalized “Dr. Schiffman’s Asthmador” products because some holy rollers were afraid that “… hippies would get high…” from it (Availability of such a product today could diminish asthmatics’ dependence upon albuterol aerosol rescue inhalers. It is not as effective as albuterol for major spasms, but for lesser tightening-up, I testify from my own experience that it worked back then.)

She is in no way shape or form on Salvia. She is smoking pot here no doubt. She would be behaving very differently on Salvia. Especially if it her first time. I think that she doesn’t want to admit to doing something that is completely illegal so instead chose a substance that isn’t considered a crime. That was she can say she wasn’t breaking the law. Its a shame that she has to try and ruin something like Salvia for everyone. Now they are trying to outlaw it and make it a crime to own or do it. What a shame.

Not everyone who wants to change their brain chemistry for a minute or two wants to be the leader of the new aeon or some such bullshit. I tend more to the dour side of most drugs, but I know people who are good and wise about such things who have never had a serious trip in their lives.
As for respect as just being cautious about one’s dosage set and setting, there’s no way to tell how careful she and fer friends are being from this video. All in all, she seems a little stressed out and neurotic, but she’s still got a smile on her face, so fuck it, good on her.

Gotta say I’ve had trips like those on salvia, so saying she isn’t on it because when you tripped on it it wasn’t like that is dumb. Everyone handles everything different. Ever smoked a whole gram mixed with weed? well thats what it does to you.

The problem was that it left me so light sensitive that I had to convince my bosses that there was legitimate reason for me wearing my sunglasses all week at work…
Here in Australia, though, it is illegal now. (or at least, not legal…)
