A Link Between Monsanto, Blackwater & Bill Gates?

MonsantoThere’s an unlikely story circulating on various underground news sites claiming that the controversial biotech company Monsanto has acquired infamous mercenary outfit Blackwater (now trading as Xe Services). The report apparently first appeared in La Jornada, one of Mexico City’s leading daily newspapers, described by Noam Chomsky as “the one independent newspaper in the whole hemisphere.” Pravda has translated the original Spanish text written by Silvia Ribeiro into English. From my reading of the Jeremy Scahill article that seems to form the basis of the report, the most you can deduce is that Monsanto hired the creeps at Blackwater to do dirty work for them, but the rumor keeps circulating, so could there be a grain of truth somewhere in this story?:

A report by Jeremy Scahill in The Nation (Blackwater’s Black Ops, 9/15/2010) revealed that the largest mercenary army in the world, Blackwater (now called Xe Services) clandestine intelligence services was sold to the multinational Monsanto. Blackwater was renamed in 2009 after becoming famous in the world with numerous reports of abuses in Iraq, including massacres of civilians. It remains the largest private contractor of the U.S. Department of State “security services,” that practices state terrorism by giving the government the opportunity to deny it.

Many military and former CIA officers work for Blackwater or related companies created to divert attention from their bad reputation and make more profit selling their nefarious services-ranging from information and intelligence to infiltration, political lobbying and paramilitary training – for other governments, banks and multinational corporations. According to Scahill, business with multinationals, like Monsanto, Chevron, and financial giants such as Barclays and Deutsche Bank, are channeled through two companies owned by Erik Prince, owner of Blackwater: Total Intelligence Solutions and Terrorism Research Center. These officers and directors share Blackwater.

One of them, Cofer Black, known for his brutality as one of the directors of the CIA, was the one who made contact with Monsanto in 2008 as director of Total Intelligence, entering into the contract with the company to spy on and infiltrate organizations of animal rights activists, anti-GM and other dirty activities of the biotech giant.

Contacted by Scahill, the Monsanto executive Kevin Wilson declined to comment, but later confirmed to The Nation that they had hired Total Intelligence in 2008 and 2009, according to Monsanto only to keep track of “public disclosure” of its opponents. He also said that Total Intelligence was a “totally separate entity from Blackwater.”

However, Scahill has copies of emails from Cofer Black after the meeting with Wilson for Monsanto, where he explains to other former CIA agents, using their Blackwater e-mails, that the discussion with Wilson was that Total Intelligence had become “Monsanto’s intelligence arm,” spying on activists and other actions, including “our people to legally integrate these groups.” Total Intelligence Monsanto paid $ 127,000 in 2008 and $ 105,000 in 2009.

No wonder that a company engaged in the “science of death” as Monsanto, which has been dedicated from the outset to produce toxic poisons spilling from Agent Orange to PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), pesticides, hormones and genetically modified seeds, is associated with another company of thugs.

Almost simultaneously with the publication of this article in The Nation, the Via Campesina reported the purchase of 500,000 shares of Monsanto, for more than $23 million by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which with this action completed the outing of the mask of “philanthropy.” Another association that is not surprising.

It is a marriage between the two most brutal monopolies in the history of industrialism: Bill Gates controls more than 90 percent of the market share of proprietary computing and Monsanto about 90 percent of the global transgenic seed market and most global commercial seed. There does not exist in any other industrial sector monopolies so vast, whose very existence is a negation of the vaunted principle of “market competition” of capitalism. Both Gates and Monsanto are very aggressive in defending their ill-gotten monopolies.

Although Bill Gates might try to say that the Foundation is not linked to his business, all it proves is the opposite: most of their donations end up favoring the commercial investments of the tycoon, not really “donating” anything, but instead of paying taxes to the state coffers, he invests his profits in where it is favorable to him economically, including propaganda from their supposed good intentions. On the contrary, their “donations” finance projects as destructive as geoengineering or replacement of natural community medicines for high-tech patented medicines in the poorest areas of the world. What a coincidence, former Secretary of Health Julio Frenk and Ernesto Zedillo are advisers of the Foundation.

Like Monsanto, Gates is also engaged in trying to destroy rural farming worldwide, mainly through the “Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa” (AGRA). It works as a Trojan horse to deprive poor African farmers of their traditional seeds, replacing them with the seeds of their companies first, finally by genetically modified (GM). To this end, the Foundation hired Robert Horsch in 2006, the director of Monsanto. Now Gates, airing major profits, went straight to the source.

Blackwater, Monsanto and Gates are three sides of the same figure: the war machine on the planet and most people who inhabit it, are peasants, indigenous communities, people who want to share information and knowledge or any other who does not want to be in the aegis of profit and the destructiveness of capitalism.

Yes, it’s all coming together now:

Bill Gates, Hugh Grant (Monsanto Chair) and Ex-CIA Director (and current Mitre Corp Chair) Jim Schlesinger meet one night at the Bohemian Grove Stonecutters’ Lodge and get raging drunk on a bottle Chateau La Fite ’67. Jim gives Bill a backhanded compliment about his bow-tie. Bill flexes his flabby little “try-cepts” and let’s Jim that , “It takes ones of these to get one of THESE . . . ”

    http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.yahindnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Melinda-Gates.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.yahindnews.com/breaking_news/bill-gates-wife-reveals-apple-ban-at-home_38411.html&usg=__1AjLwPwwrE9tBlb_w9PZI3EmDlc=&h=494&w=450&sz=89&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=rhM8xKYT7JHZVM:&tbnh=146&tbnw=128&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBill%2BGates%2Bwife%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1000%26bih%3D578%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=468&ei=24YjTcCQHNXNngftwcyEDg&oei=l4YjTYvYAp7mnQf5xrXgDQ&esq=6&page=1&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=108&ty=68

Jim laughs uproariously and suggests they move on to bottle #2. . . . Three bottles later Jim begins to take a real shine to the self-deprecating little geek and tries to bury the hatchet, suggesting that their interests in Third World Malaria eradication and U.S. national security may have some surprisingly simple common solutions. Namely, massive depopulation of sub-Saharan Africa.

Ordinarily Bill would be shocked and disgusted at this blatantly racist, imperialist notion, but remember, he’s had at least a glass and half of wine. At his body weight that’d probably put him at 40 proof by volume; Bill massages the idea further over the weekend. A weekend, I might add, filled with golf games and fishing trips punctuated by rounds of little mince-wristed applause of the fawning sychophants that inevitable attach themselves to any of the richest men in North America like fat ticks on a warm buck deer. By Sunday bedtime (i.e., 8:00pm) the conclusion is chrystal clear and he can hardly wait to make the necessary follow up calls Monday morning.

Bill’s kind of eliptical about the whole proposal, which would have ordinarily disgusted heavy hitters like Grant and Schlesinger into stoney unresponsiveness.. But remember, Bill is one of America’s few truly RICH mean, so they accept w/ gusto Bill’s invitation to a Thursday. However, the brilliance of the idea is so overwhelming that, come the day of the call, it’s Grant and Schlesinger’s turn to turn into slack-jawed teenagers:

Monsanto will take over the agriculture of sub-Saharan Africa by low-balling in the markets. This will be facilitated through U.S. government subsidies pitched by Schelsinger’s Republican pals in the House & Senate as a weird hybrid “Stimulus” and “Foreign Aid” package–a deal so shockingly contrary to their previous “small government” rhetoric that Dems will hardly be able to mount a coherent analysis, let alone opposition. Then, its control of Africa’s food supply guaranteed, they pull the trigger by introducing ‘suicide genes’ (i.e., synthetic switches in the seeds) that stop producing new plants after only 1 or two seasons.

Monsanto has nearly the whole continent at its mercy and can charge what it will in the markets it now owns. With margins this fat, it is actually in Monsanto’s interest to see a massive population die-off to concentrate the continent’s meagre financial capital into even fewer hands, thereby “rationalizing” production, marketing and distribution costs as well as fattening per-unit “profits”.

Almost needless to say, the empty continent is an excellent opportunity for Schelsinger’s Mitre Corp on several fronts. It produces the collapse of several nation-states justifying American intervention and boosting DOD contracting. It also makes the seizure of strategic African mineral regions much easier, and publicly paletable, than would have otherwise been the case.

And of course, on the much-reduced, and maybe geographically concentrated population base, the cost and scale of effort for Bill’s Malaria eradication program can better realize economies of scale. All in, according to Grant, Schlesinger and Gates, anyhow, a brilliant f*ing idear.

“Push the ‘Start’ button, Bill,” jokes Schlesinger over the line.

However, there is one guy on the line, an uninvited caller, who definitely does NOT grok this scene: John Wheeler III, an employee of Schlesinger’s who thoughtlessly loaned Jim his conference dial-in # when Jim forgot where he left the dial-in code for his own account.

Wheeler inadvertantly attended this call by mistakenly dialing his own #, intending to attend a different conference call, scheduled for the board of a local performing Arts charity thing that his old lady asked him to join. Wheeler is NOT pleased by the notion of genocidal profiteering, and makes the mistake of telling Schlesinger so later in the day, during what he believes is a friendly lunch to dissuade his boss from this terrible, terrible course of action.

Turns out to be Wheeler’s LAST mistake.

Great post and article, and please allow me to elaborate a bit (and major praise, kudos and props to the ever-superlative Jeremy Scahill).

It goes way beyond this of course, as the Gates Foundation has long been pushing Monsanto’s GMOs in Africa through the Initiative for Global Develoment (cached site given below, as when I began investigating their site, they pulled ALL online documents offline).

The IGD also supports the financing of Monsanto’s GMOs by way of Global Development Bonds (securitized debt which profits the corporations, and lays the burden off on the tax payers of individual countries, of course).

Colin Powell, Goldman Sachs and the usual gang are involved in this along with the Gates Foundation and Monsanto.

Even more interesting is that when Bank of America bought up Merrill Lynch in the Great Meltdown awhile back, they got the controlling interest in BlackRock (hedge fund overseeing the disbursal of those TARP bankster bailout funds).

And BlackRock has the controlling interest in Monsanto — my how financially interlocking the expanded picture becomes.

Once the BofA docs are fully Wikileaked, expect the fewmets to really hit the fan as to the BIG PICTURE (and be sure to check out the cached doc below — very enlightening — and checkout the last few pp. for attendees).
