Disinfo reader Robert sent us this story about Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey’s grandson, in the Visalia Times-Delta (San Joaquin Valley, California). It doesn’t indicate whether or not any satanic ritual was involved in the sexual assault:

A man and his girlfriend were arrested Sunday on suspicion of sexually assaulting and imprisoning a teenage girl in Three Rivers, authorities said.

Stanton Zaharoff LaVey, 33, and his girlfriend Mishael Nicely, 24, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 19-year-old they knew on Wednesday, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Authorities said the girl went with the couple to their home, where they smoked marijuana together. The girl told authorities that the couple would not let her leave. She was tackled and bound with tape at her hands and across her mouth, she reported.

The couple sexually assaulted her and forced her to watch pornography, she reported. She was allowed to leave at 3 a.m. Thursday, she told authorities…

    I know you want to reach a lot of readers and that NAMING is important for you but why did you put Anton LaVey’s name in the main title and this damn huge picture of the Black Pope? You could have easily put the name STANTON ZARAHORFF LAVEY and a picture of this scumbag instead!! After all, HE IS the one who was ARRESTED! Anton Szandor LaVey was a gentleman, respectful of the law and he hated criminals! Anton LaVey had only this in common with Stanton… he was his grandpapa. STANTON ZARAHORFF LAVEY is a vulgar CRIMINAL and he have always been!

    Please take note that Stanton LaVey is not and never has been a member of the Church of Satan, let alone part of the Priesthood or Hierarchy. NEVER!

      So Ghost, tell me, what do you make of LaVey’s daughter’s accusations that her father abused his lion, despite Anton’ public claims that all animals should be treated with more respect than humans? Was Xerxes spiteful toward her father? Confused?

      I mentioned this to a friend of mine once. He said, “Oh, the Black Pope of the Church of Satan abused his animals? Big surprise.”

      I said, “But it doesn’t make any sense. LaVey always defended the rights of animals.”

      He said, “Oh, the Black Pope of the Church of Satan lied to manipulate the public? I can’t believe it!”

        I look at credibility and motivation of the source. In this case, there is much to be skeptical of when it comes to Zeena speaking about her father. This was the man she claimed to have put a “death curse” on, after all.

      Slight correction – Stanton WAS given a “token” position in the CoS several years ago, probably to quell some of the embarrassment he was constantly causing them It had something to do with “Youth” and I can’t remember the exact title. Many of the upper Rev’s and Mgstrs were fairly disgruntled over it.

      I think you assume too much about the Christians that read Disinfo. Do you really think we’re really incapable of telling the difference between the man and his grandson? I agree that the way the article was presented here was inappropriate and much may be made of this in the regular media. But amongst us poor, benighted, hypocritical Christians on this site, I think the reputation of Anton LeVey is safe.

      And for my part, even if I disagree witht the “Black Pope”, at least he was honest. :-)

      i have spoken with stanton a couple of times and he seems to be very respectful of his grandfather and his beliefs. so what if he has a criminal past so does half the “magisters” of the c.o.s ,remember that there is always two sides to a story people !
