Noam Chomsky On WikiLeaks, Middle East Uprisings And More

Thanks to Wiley for sending along this video of Noam Chomsky speaking at the University of Tennessee on January 25, 2011, which as Wiley points out was “the night of the State of the Union — he sort of gave his own version.”

Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5; Part 6.

Thank you friend- that’s what lack of sleep does.

  7. Score one more for my old alma mater ! Knoxville is a strange place, let me tell ya. A close neighber of my little town, Oak Ridge, is home to the 2nd and 3rd (formerly the 1st and 3rd) fastest super-computers in the world. Google “Jaguar super computer,” if you don’t believe me. Oak Ridge, if you don’t remember, is the birthplace of the world’s first atomic bomb. Go world peace!

Also, Mountain Dew was first created and marketed in Knoxville as a mixer for White Lightning. Also, Ruby Tuesday’s started in Knoxville. Also, one can find more inbred yokels, modern-day carpetbaggers, and Ku Klux Klansmen per capita in Tennessee than damn near anywhere.

Also, I once saw Kurt Vonnegut speak at UTK before his death. Also Lewis Black. Also saw Marilyn Manson, Danzig, The Impotent Sea Snakes, GWAR, and the Reverend Horton Heat for the first time in Knoxville.

But I missed Noam Chomsky. Hopefully my kinsmen were pleasant hosts.

Fuck yeah, Knoxville. You’re gonna be smart before you know it!

  11. WIKILEAKS BILLBOARDS going up in LOS ANGELES and CHICAGO via supporters’ pledges…

I have been following your page and articles for quite a while and really respect what you are doing for the Wikileaks/Julian Assange cause. I recently found and donated $20 to Wikileaks campaign where a group of supporters such as myself are raising money to put up multiple billboards in Los Angeles and Chicago respectively…

Wikileaks apparently really liked the campaign as they have already promoted the campaign on their twitter and facebook page, with a direct link for supporters to pledge to the billboard.

I wasn’t sure if you guys had already heard about this, so I wanted to reach out to you to try to push the movement even further. I know you have a ton of dedicated readers and subscribers, and I assume it would be of much interest to expose them to this campaign if they have not already read or heard about it. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. Keep rockin’ guys! Your unwavering support of the Wikileaks cause inspires us all.
