‘PSYWAR’: Connecting The Dots In Iraq

This is just a sidenote, but it’s an interesting one about the propaganda used on Americans during the illegal invasion.

We all know about the Jessica Lynch story, and how the military waited to “rescue” her and her fellow Army mechanics from their Iraqi doctors (who were portrayed at the time as “terrorists” holding them hostage, instead of medical professionals giving them proper treatment under the Geneva Conventions) until they had a camera crew in place to record it all for propaganda purposes.

But what I hadn’t put together, was the TIMING of the revelation of that operation, and how it worked in conjunction with another event.

The same day that the Pentagon revealed this “heroic story” (which Jessica Lynch herself finds embarrassing, apparently not appreciating her role as a tool of propaganda), they had blasted the Palestine Hotel with a tank killing journalists there, and also killed another journalist in the process of blowing up the Al Jazeera studios.

So that night, the lead story in the American media wasn’t “Hey, they just killed our fellow journalists,” but rather it was Jessica Lynch, 24/7.

I heard this information in a documentary film called “Psy War” which was narrated/produced by the same folks who made the movie “The Corporation”, and has great clips from Howard Zinn, the people at PR Watch, Michael Parenti, etc. Russ Baker, the investigative journalist who wrote about the wackjob religious group “The Family” has praised this doc highly for what it’s research has revealed.

    I see myself in the future starting a political party, or ideology called the Insanity Party. People Whom have been driven to insanity by the understanding of extreme propaganda, who’s only goal is to destroy the massive infrastructure of social control and regain their own natural right to sanity.

    As everyone is drowning in their muddled confusion, the Insane would be the warriors of the awakened. Pulling up the sleeping to their level, their immediate goal would be to first eliminate the mass mind by bringing them to the level of Insane, and their end-goal would be to educate themselves and everyone around them to the level of sanity, to strive for a disinformationless-world. The sleeping mind can only be called below-insanity.

    It would be akin to what the police force is supposed to do, or what the medical field is supposed to do: remove the bad in the world enough to make their own services unnecessary. Instead of building a permanent (for profit) institution, it would be a temporary apparatus to change the world to something better, not to be a parasite to suck the life-blood away until society is destroyed.

    It is optimistic, and in this world, optimism can only be called insane.

      I have often considered, how can you wake people up from propaganda? Just teaching them its methods doesn’t work, because people like to think they’re “too smart” to be taken in by it or they’re not discerning enough to be able to tell when its being used. Even knowing how it works (I’ve been affiliated with marketing for a long time. Selling’s all the same, whether it’s selling Nikes, the burger joint down the street, or public approval for a war), I know I sometimes respond to particularly well done pieces.

      My sad conclusion was that the only way to lead people out of propaganda is to use propaganda yourself. People in general seem to need someone to tell them what to think and what to do and the ones who don’t directly still respond better to inspiration and tightly crafted insinuation of ideas than to rational argument. How do you market “critical thought” to people who would rather not think?

          We really have a crisis of authority when it comes to information. The key to cutting through propaganda is convincing the target audience that your information is from an acceptable authority source, or that you are an acceptable authority. This metric changes with the target group, there are hardly any universal authority anymore. This is in some ways a good thing, new authorities can be established and there is not one monolithic authority that everyone respects. For those interested in influencing others, always target your audience…thats why the Justin Bieber comment was so apt.

        It’s been my experience that the average person applies 99.% of whatever brainpower they may have been born with in rationalizing their experience to make themselves feel better, not to discover any factual truths.

        So to that end, my guess is that the optimal pedagological approach may be to make them RESPECT factuality. Unfortunately, that requires the application of a prolonged series of nasty shocks. Humanity has an enormous capacity for self-delusion.

    Totally agree with you there. That doesn’t change the fact that the govt. used her to distract from a lot of other things and has done so with others as well. Any time anyone questioned what was going on, it was like the new “but think of the children!”

And for food; Seeds Of Destruction by William Engdahl. This book tells the story of the trusts funding of and intent for GMO’s and the green revolution.

    I have found that the only way to realize you are being manipulated is to isolate yourself from mainstream media for awhile and then a new world begins to open up. Surprise! You just might meet yourself in the process. Form your own view of the world by living in it. Do not accept what is offered by media as your dominant motivator. It’s all laced with fakery and glittery dumbspeak. Start looking at commercials as products you shouldn’t buy….why you say? Because if its a name brand, you are already paying more than you need to. How else could they afford these million dollar advertising campaigns?

    Bottom line- if they pay big money to advertise or propagandize something -it means there is an agenda being pushed -one that is usually and ultimatly against your better interests that profits a relative few and not you. Horn-swaggled again. Don’t buy it….
