“Could Mubarak’s tactics work in the U.S.?”
They already do. Undercover agitators are a regular part of protests in the western world today.

The Patriot Act… anything but patriotic. I don’t think the problem is undercover agents, it’s a society that assumes government is either all good or bad. There has been peace in Egypt for 30 years, however, that peace came with a price, the same as our War on Terror, the never ending catch-22 or proverbial lesser of two evils. Essentially, all of this is a delay tactic at the Egyptian peoples expense while Washington decides what intervention to take as it’s a very tedious situation for pretty much the entire world. I’m sure the Egyptians will be wondering why their Army that the US pays for didn’t protect them against the pro-Mubarak supporters that were beating on them. As far as the looters… hello Katrina and the LA riots we are beasts too minus the camels….

Her tone is right out of Jon Stewart’s playbook. It is a great report though. “The official story cannot survive the competition of the real story.” Now these media organizations just have to learn how to cut through the “evident bullpucky” dished out by the American government on a daily basis.

Totally correct. Mubarak was looking to PICK a fight. he pro-Mubarak forces are nothing more than plain-clothed policemen – agent provacateurs.
That’s been the model from violence by death squads in Central American in the 80′s to provoking violence during anti-globalism protests, to these events in Egypt. Same BS, different day.

I wonder if the vandalism at the Egyptian Museum was a false-flag operation.

I’ve got to say I’m not a big fan of Maddow but she’s had the best US reporting of the Egyptian protests. Been watching her all this week.
