Has Atlantis Finally Been Found?

Atlantis_map_KampanakisBBC reports:

A scientist says he may have found remains of the lost city of Atlantis.

Satellite photos of southern Spain reveal features on the ground appearing to match descriptions made by Greek scholar Plato of the fabled utopia.

Dr Rainer Kuehne thinks the “island” of Atlantis simply referred to a region of the southern Spanish coast destroyed by a flood between 800 BC and 500 BC.

The research has been reported as an ongoing project in the online edition of the journal Antiquity.

Satellite photos of a salt marsh region known as Marisma de Hinojos near the city of Cadiz show two rectangular structures in the mud and parts of concentric rings that may once have surrounded them.

I always wondered what the allure to finding Atlantis was. Suppose we did find it, hooray we found a historical utopia that failed due to natural disasters.

It’s the satisfaction in finding the thing that nobody really cares about any more.

Actually, it’s said to have failed due to ‘natural’ disasters triggered by humans with high-resonance/mega-frequency technology (supposedly massive crystals). So if there is anything legit to that legend, a military has great interest in finding the fable remains of such weaponry. Hence, Adolf Hitler’s interest in Antarctica…

but Plato clearly described Atlantis as having vanished 8,000 years before his own time. Plato was born in 428 BC, tales and information about Atlantis would have been far more readily available than Plato stated if it had vanished at the time stated by this researcher. i find this to be highly unlikely

Umm… not to burst anyone’s bubble, but Atlantis is a myth. Plato made it up as an allegory, a hypothetical golden age when everything was perfect, before people screwed it up. It’s like the Greek version of the Garden of Eden. Does anyone really think that will be discovered? Sorry, anyone rational I mean?
