Wisconsin Protests Followup: This Is Happening Now

An image is worth a thousand words. Is this video worth a million?

“The Krampus enter at 1:56, if you’re wondering. But on a larger scale, I think it’s patently obvious that this is the kind of movement which can easily peter out and be written of as performance art, or it can be an opportunity for all of us to “come out” of the closet, say no to the Plutocratic demands, no to the myth that we are separate and estranged, that we must compete with one another, that we must identify with one “team,” one “nation,” one “race,” and kill or take from all the others, that mutual benefit isn’t the only virtue. Charlie Sheen might be a egomaniac and any number of other things, who knows, I don’t know him personally. But when he said “I’m a rockstar from mars,” and, you know, I’m sick of pretending otherwise, that, in my own way, I could completely relate to.”

More commentary on Modern Mythology.

If you can do better, get the hell over here and show us what you got!

We will gladly learn and adapt.

      Talks is so FRICKEN cheap…

Looks like a celebration march. Something like Mardi Gras. The Wisconsin protesters haven’t won a real victory to celebrate with a parade, yet. I recommend switching back to a very angry and confrontational tone / mood like you had in the beginning, as soon as possible and continuing to strike until the firing commences, then storming and occupying the state capitol again, while filing charges against Walker for wrongful terminations and violations of civil rights with state supreme court. Walker has to be put on the defensive. He can be broken with lawsuits, it doesn’t matter who wins, cases can go on for months (if union lawyers really earn their pay) and can involve investigations into Walkers’ public records, business dealings and associations producing numerous opportunities to politically attack Walker in the media for several months. Expect this process to be protracted and protesters should learn how to (legally) threaten, harass, stall and obstruct, as well as republicans. Put the clown costumes away for now.

      Not a celebration… a wake… a New Orleans style funeral procession.

Yeah, that always goes really well.

Thanks you ever so much Mr. Curcio! Eternal gratitude for your sympathy and efforts.

Amid all the cynicism and analytical talk, so many people have woken up here in Madison, Wisconsin, USA! Day after day they are out there! How many weeks now?! Wake up folks! Please… please… wake up.

From a distance it is very easy to quip about how or what SHOULD be done to counter these A-holes. But we are here on the battle-front fighting for anybody who cares about human decency, and the nasty erosion of our society.

It’s hard. We’re tired. We’re out there day-after-day. We’re facing the Neocon dirty tricks campaign.

It happens so fast and furious we can only respond from our hearts and our guts. We are not allowed the comfortable option of being “armchair quarterbacks.” It would be nice to have time to think and plan and perfect, but our only resources are our sincerity, our courage, our creativity, and our desperation.

Please join us. Please recognize this will soon come to your own home town. Please forgive the grammatical errors, cuz I’m typing on the fly, because another protest is happening w/in the hour.

I went to cnn.com last weekend to check on this, naively expecting that it would still be one of their top stories. Apparently the attention span of the corporate media has already reached its limits. Can you tell us more about what is going on out there? Is it all petering out, or is it still going strong?

I really wish I could be there.

People are still out there today in force.

We are doing everything we can, but our savings, our jobs, our health care… it’s all on the line now…

yet we ARE putting it up. Because we feel there is momentum here. If it doesn’t start here, WHERE WILL IT START???? And what will become of us as a nation if it DOES NOT?

BUT WE NEED SUPPORT! WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS!

The Roman Legions won by having a 5-rank system. When the front line tired, a new rank moved forward fresh, in endless circulation. This was their secret to “success.” Thus they could sustain there efforts much more so then their enemies. We could turn that back to a peaceful, humane cause. We’ll probably have too.

Please explain to me what the alternative is then.

Most of us here realize we can easily be marginalized by the system. So what is the alternative?

    • http://www.victoriangothic.org Haystack

I disagree. The last thing the GOP wants going into 2012 are unions and other democratic organizations mobilized. Even if Walker gets his way here, they’ll understand that there is line they can’t cross without expecting some blowback.

    Disinfo editors…

is this just business as usual? Or are you for genuine transformation?

I have read you for years.

I realize, on a broader scale, that Madison protests may seem like just a blip on the radar. BUT I ask you where else is this happening in the US on this kind of scale?

If it is just about profit… I’m calling you on that now.

If not… promote and disseminate… or make a cogent editorial statement as to why that is a misguided notion,

Understand, I am a supporter of your site. And it has informed much of this protest in Wisconsin. It has broader implications, as you must well know.

Yeah, which is why the number of people outside the state house has GROWN from 20,000 to over 100,000. Nothing wrong with having a sense of humor while protesting. It’s called keeping people’s spirits UP.

Tell me James, how much do the Koch brothers pay you to post swill like this? Do you get paid per post, or get a flat rate? LOLOL!
