Donald Trump Joins The Birthers

In the wake of his announcement of a probable 2012 Presidential bid, the Donald joins the birthers, as reported by AP/Yahoo News:

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump said Thursday he isn’t convinced that President Barack Obama was born in the United States ,but says he hopes the president can prove that he was.

Officials in Hawaii have certified Obama’s citizenship, but “birthers” have demanded additional proof. And Trump, who is weighing whether to seek the Republican presidential nomination, says not all the questions have been answered.

In an interview broadcast Thursday, Trump told NBC News he plans to decide by June whether to run, and said that if he is the GOP nominee, “I’d like to beat him straight up,” not on the basis of the question of where Obama was born.

Trump insisted he didn’t introduce the citizenship issue, but he isn’t letting go of it either. Since he was asked about it during an interview several weeks ago, the real estate executive said, he’s looked into it and now believes “there is a big possibility” Obama may have violated the Constitution.

“I’d like to have him show his birth certificate,” Trump said. “And to be honest with you, I hope he can.”…

    American politics has been dragged through the mire in recent years thanks to behavior like this. If Trump wants to stand out from the crowd he should be running a clean campaign and showing himself to be above this.

    MSNBC has de-bunked his obvious motives; Ratings and financial desperation.

    Trump made his fortune in “Real Estate” and he’s HAD to have suffered and suffered and suffered recently. Granted, he can just hold onto property and buy up property from people that lose/sell in desperation, but with the values depressed he’s probably in a deadly vice, living like a “Petty Multi-Millionaire” etc.

    And he’s suffered with investments, abandoning his Casinos, etc. to creditors.

    His major cash and EGO cow left is his TV show and media presence. But ratings are slipping, people are getting bored of his act.

    So, his fake presidential bid is perfect. He plays the media on, and whammo. Really, imagine how much it’d cost him to get the attention every time he gets in the news on the presidency thing? I claim no knowledge, but I bet it’s at least $1 million dollars, every week he gets a headline and that’s exposure alone, not counting more received/read than “TRUMP: My latest product for you suckers who delude yourself you can be like me someday” or some such.

    But the Media gets tired of the act.

    So, do what no legitimate candidate would do, cater to them and their wildest (as long as not racist/anti-Joo) conspiracy theories. Again, instant ratings.
