Correct. He was Underwater Demolitions, precursors to the SEALs. Still serious badasses, though.

      • Fdwad

Makes sense that takes a lot more time to explain that just saying he is a SEAL which he basically was in terms of training.

Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura are about the only ones in the country that give a shit, and that’s why they WON’T get elected.

      • MoralDrift

Whats truly sad, is that your comment honestly goes without saying. Beyond cliche, beyond all hope, not a single candidate will again be elected who is genuinely concerned with serving the best interests of our republic.

And I still wonder why I’m depressed.

Well it seems there is a subtle force like wind and water eroding the earthen stupidity in this country. We won’t know when and where the tipping point is, but it is coming. As long as people strive to wake people up, the earth will tremble in time.

Wow, ya gotta be proud of a guy like Jesse. As a former pro-wrestler lets just say his intellectual rep. took a wet slap….but over the years he has managed to remove most of the red from his neck to becoming a truly strong man -rather than a loud mouthed bully personna with a pea brain. Fantastic!
Rarely does the idealized warm fuzzy meaning of “patriot” come to mind as it does with Jesse and his way retro-cool Ben Franklin look…

I know we all just watched the video but I want to make sure we all caught what George Snufalufagus is really all about here. Sorry if this is a little long we need the whole context. They are talking about assassinations

Ventura says: “There are documents so disturbing here like the CIA’s assassination manual. Excuse me assassination is just a nice word for first degree murder and we have a manual that tells how to do it and everything about it. As far as I know George First degree murder is illegal in every country in the world.”

Here Ventura is questioning the morality and/or the governments authority to act outside of the law. George, who we will see has a knee jerk reaction for authoritarian apologetics, will bring in some excuse as to why the government can arbitrarily ignore those laws and act on it’s own authority.

George Snufalufagus says: “Aren’t there some cases where it would be justified a tyrant whose killing hundreds of thousands of people.

As an aside here not directly pertinent to the conversation. Lets notice that Snufalufagus’ rationality would justify the assassination of an American president like Bill Clinton fwho ordered the bombing of a pharmaceutical factory in Afghanistan also. Tens if not hundreds of thousands died as a result of that. By Georges rationality it would have been perfectly justifiable for the Afghan gov’t to order the assassination of Bill Clinton, as, in their perspective he was a “tyrant” responsible for the deaths of many innocent civilians. But Snufalufagus’ rationalizations preclude equal reciprocity. In that the authority to which he sides with can ignore law but nobody else can. So keep in mind we are dealing with a not too rational mentality to begin with. On to the pertinent point.

Ventura responds: “Who makes the call? I’ll say this too, about, if we go back to Bin Laden, why haven’t we indicted him? That gives us reason to get him. We haven’t indicted him, the government has never come forward, convened a grand jury, presented one shred of evidence that he did it officially and get and indictment.

What Ventura is talking about here is that this is a nation of laws. We have a system of law based on rational first principles. If some in authority arbitrarily decide that they can “make the call” to murder, thus sidestepping our system of law. Who is it that we will trust to hold that power? Who can we trust to make those decisions? Any rational person realizes that we cannot trust that power to any human, even ourselves. Therefore we made a system of law based on rational principles that will make those determinationions. This is not a nation of leaders it is a nation of laws. Of Course Snufalufagus and those apologists like him don’t like that system because it takes away much of their authority. Anything that stands against his chosen authority must go. So he quite deliberately misinterprets Ventura’s statement and says.

Snufalufagus: “So you don’t believe he was behind it either? (meaning Bin Laden)

No Ventura didn’t say he thought Bin Laden wasn’t behind it. Ventura is having a conversation about our rule of law. Here we can see that Snufalufagus has completely ignored Venturas argument for rule of law. Snufy has ignore that point because he doesn’t really believe in our system of law, He and many others like him in this country believe in an authoritarian Imperial system and the conversation cannot go there. That’s Snufalufagus’ skill as a propagandist, his ability to steer the conversation away from real dialog. Whether he does this deliberately and knowingly or just because he is some mindless tool who was selected because he actually thinks along those lines is neither here nor there.

Snuf’s mindset is quite clear that the authority who says Bin Laden is guilty is automatically correct without the need to prove it. Not innocent until proven guilty. So Snufalufagus’ authority, our gov’t, is indeed completely outside the purview of the process of law in his eyes. In Snuf’s mind to question his arbitrarily chosen authority in any way is tantamount to lunacy, this is called “heresy” in religious authoritarian systems. Not to mention the fact that he is intimating that what Ventura is saying is akin to sympathising with Bin Laden in some way. That holding to our first principles of law may give “the enemy” some advantage. Thus we have had to abandon our principles for an authoritarian structure.

It’s the same way religious authority works, so this mindset is nothing new. Let’s recognize that the mindset of people like Snufalufagus builds the bridge from liberty and to empire. If you ever wondered just how the Roman Republic went from a democracy to an empire and to ruin. Well now you know why. Mr Snufalufagus and his ilk are why.

Ventura quote rightly responds: “I don’t know! But my government has lied to me so often they’ve lost their credibility with me George.

Which is a very rational response on Ventura’s part. He knows that human institutions like government are vulnerable and flawed because they consist of people, humans. That the only real way we can govern ourselves, and decide guilt in this case, is not by the rule of corruptible humans but by rational principles of law.

P.S. I could have just said Snufalufagus is a shithead and moved on but I wanted to really lay out why he is a shithead. Thank you for your patience if you read my rant.
