Obama’s Birth Address Is Middle Of Highway

The White House thought it had us all fooled with today’s long-form Hawaiian birth certificate release, but that was until the latest revelation emerged. Enter 6085 Kalanianaole Highway, the supposed address of Obama’s childhood home, into Google Street View, and the red arrow points to ground in the middle of a freeway! Nice try, Barack Hussein, we’re too smart for you!

Update: this was intended to be humorous. But, apparently, it’s not too far off from actual “birther” arguments.

    A friend of mine showed me that the image returned for my address is a municipal carpark that I honestly don’t think lies within 5 miles of my place.

    Besides which, that address was over 50 years ago. You know they do be tearing down/ building up and renovating places from time to time.

    If you want to call Obama out, call him out on his real failings: He’s basically a Republican sleeper agent.

          BS. The Right has a vested interest in continuing to go farther and farther right (well, their version of right. It’s certainly not a _fiscal_ conservative kind of right). Give them an inch, and they’ll drag the country another mile. It’s been their strategy for decades and it’s worked well for them. A lot of the current democrats are farther to the _right_ than conservatives were forty, fifty years ago. They keep moving to “bridge the gap” while the conservatives do everything in their power to keep the gap just as large, or larger, as ever. Meanwhile, the _real_ center of the country gets left behind and called “liberal” and “radical” as though either of those things was somehow bad.

          You don’t “bridge the gap” by chasing them and becoming them. You build a bridge halfway and tell them to build the other half or to hell with them. I wish someone could convince the so-called liberal politicians that.

Why give these people any fire, because I am willing to bet these crazy birthers are going to use this article as a source.

        I also saw that YT video about the layers and went and downloaded the PDF from whitehouse.gov and inspected it in Illustrator. Indeed, there are layers. It’s kind of inconceivable why, though.. It’s not broken up like people think.

            I cannot figure out what the point is to the layering I’m seeing in the PDF. It’s not layering that one would use to artificially construct such a thing… It seems mostly some weird artifact to a scanning process, but I can’t understand in the least how or why. It’s curious.

            I think they probably scanned it as a greyscale photo to catch all the penciled in detail and then realized they needed to knock the white background out so they could put it on their “official paper”. Only instead of using multiply (which for what is basically a line-art document would give you only the black and dark grey), they used the sliders in photoshop that make part of the image transparent based on its greyscale value (in the blending options). That or they might have selected all the grey and applied a feather to the selection and deleted the white, though that would be a hell of a lot more work than using the transparency slider (but would have a similar outcome). They may not have been able to use multiply if they put the pdf together outside of photoshop and only worked on the scan itself in photoshop. That’s my opinion after only a couple minutes being mystified by the white haloing and trying to deconstruct it. I’ve been using photoshop for twenty years though, for whatever credibility that lends to my analysis.

            Sadly, having it all in one layer doesn’t negate the possibility of photoshoppery. You just merge all the layers that contain certificate content to one before saving to pdf. But it doesn’t show any artifacts of that, only of the transparency slider being used — and actually, the way it’s being used is probably the best argument for it not being manipulated, because it’s pretty consistent across the document, and you’d expect it to be more patchy if it was done piecemeal.

            One of the few things I agree with Obama on though — this whole thing is a pointless circus.

I’ve been using photoshop for twenty years though, for whatever credibility that lends to my analysis.

    Sadly, having it all in one layer doesn’t negate the possibility of photoshoppery. You just merge all the layers that contain certificate content to one before saving to pdf. But it doesn’t show any artifacts of that, only of the transparency slider being used — and actually, the way it’s being used is probably the best argument for it not being manipulated, because it’s pretty consistent across the document, and you’d expect it to be more patchy if it was done piecemeal.

    One of the few things I agree with Obama on though — this whole thing is a pointless circus.

    Irony would be Obama winning an election against somebody who actually WAS born outside of the US. Someone like John McCain.

    Unless you’re implying that the birthers are, themselves, farcical. In which case I agree wholeheartedly. It’s hard to invent something stupider than that movement.

    Like Liam below, I agree you cannot rely on some of today’s so called latest technology to accurately pin point a location. One other thing, I use to work in highway design and many times over the years, properties get bought out to make way for a new highway, expressway, etc. A specific address that may have existed 40 for 50 years ago may no longer exist.
