Whats exceptionally sick is that the little girl is wearing a jacket covered in “peace signs”. What a load of malarkey.

Now, if the President had announced that with the death of America’s #1 bogeyman we could bring the troops home and end the paranoia, I would be partying for a week straight, no exaggerations. Instead we get word of Osama Bin Bogeyman taking a bullet to the head and subsequently being dumped off into the sea mob style.

Not even a day later we get trumped up reports of retaliation and even good ol Hilldog saying that “the war on terror continues”. So what is there to celebrate? Celebrating a man’s death, any man’s death, in and of itself is reprehensible. Celebrating a death that leads to peace and my nations return to sanity, week long extravagant parties are required!

Of course the war goes on, I never expected anything different. But please Obama, surprise us all, BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW

  I think I hear what you’re saying. Even if a person doesn’t particularly get off on death and mayhem, it still has to be admitted that it does appear to restore a little more symmetry to the universe, a sense that people who live by the sword die by the sword.
  
  But I can’t make that feeling last too long, when I consider the total out-of-proportion chaotic bloodbath wrought upon the people of Afghanistan by the presence of a foreign occupying force, when the Villain-In-Chief was apparently being hidden by Foreign-Aid-Recipient #1 for a decade.       Yes it would have. They were looking for pretexts to invade Iraq before 9/11. Bush wanted to be a war president, and the people around him wanted ways to clamp down on dissent and create their own “reality”. There’s very little evidence bin Laden was even directly related to 9/11. Inspired it? Yeah probably, and certainly claimed credit for it. But the just thing to do would have been to hunt him down and arrest him to be tried for mass murder (not that I imagine there’s a place he could have received a fair trial, mind you). The just thing was not invading countries that had nothing to do with al Qaeda and murdering, maiming and torturing hundreds of times more innocent civilians of those countries than he was responsible for the deaths of Americans.

        I agree with you, but that doesn’t take Osama off the hook for what he did, and he helped to bring about. America’s crimes do not excuse Al Qaeda’s crimes.

        It is not a matter of “only”. Every human being has within them the ability to create and destroy. That is who we are and what we do…how we go about doing it is what matters most. Our actions have repercussions and while I am agnostic, I am very comfortable with the idea/concept of karma…
        
        Perhaps the “terrorists” acted on their own but there does seem to be evidence which indicates that the United States government had intelligence that would have allowed them to prevent the attacks from ever taking place. Allowing the attacks was a calculated move…not only was war declared with the support of the majority of the populace, but they also took down Building 7 and allowed part of the Pentagon to be destroyed. The question we should be asking are: why?

  If you are correct, than she is a symptom of the unfounded paranoia that still grips our nation. 1 large scale attack a decade ago, followed by thousands of innocent children killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, with no end yet in sight. I think the scales of justice are pretty whacked and in light of our relative score in this whole GWOT deal, our paranoia and joyousness at the death of a former CIA asset does make Americans seem well, ignorant and crass.
  
  One last thought, whether the timing was May 1st or the 2nd, it is funny to me that at least some Americans were out on the streets for May Day, even if it had nothing to do with the reason the rest of the world was celebrating it, the Haymarket Incident.

  It’s disturbing because she isn’t even old enough to know what is going on out in the world. Like a peer in another article stated, anyone who celebrates to death of any human being is disturbed and ignorant of the true nature of reality, not some learned behavior. You could also call the U.S. mass murderers as well considering they killed over 66,000 civilians in the Iraq war; really anyone engaging in war is a mass murderer, and mass murderer in the form of ideology not a specific person. The most obvious reigning ideologies now are the technocratic war-machine, corporatism and still the reigning champion of the ages…… religion!!         I think the argument is that this is a nation of laws, if he is guilty then we have a due process that has been put in place to secure against corruption. Where are the grand jury indictments for 9/11 against Bin Laden? If the government wants to make accusations then where is the evidence? This is the pertinent time to be asking such questions. Especially now, when some in this country have completely lost their damn minds and are acting no better than the kids running around a fire on the beach in Lord of The Flies. I’m actually surprised they buried Bin Laden at sea rather than sharpening a stick at both ends and displaying his head in front of the white house. That is effectively the level many people are functioning at right now.
        
        There is a distinct difference between justice and just plain old murder and it matters. Many in this country at this particular moment are turning a blind eye to our ideals of justice merely because it is convenient. Hell I even think Bin Laden had it coming. But I hold the ideals of our society to be much more important. I’m sure Bin Laden would be comforted to know how deeply he has, in his death, been able undermine the principles of our country. Children as in the picture above, people dancing, politicians gloating, elbowing each other for the trophy. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being innocent or guilty and has everything to do with blind murderous mob rage. Next time you see someone pontificating on the higher values of western culture just remember the wild eyed dancers around this particular fire and know that those values are really just a mask over the raw savage that is the true nature of many in our society.

Sometimes these things have to be done, but acknowledging that is a far cry from taking joy in it. I think the argument is that this is a nation of laws, if he is guilty then we have a due process that has been put in place to secure against corruption. Where are the grand jury indictments for 9/11 against Bin Laden? If the government wants to make accusations then where is the evidence? This is the pertinent time to be asking such questions. Especially now, when some in this country have completely lost their damn minds and are acting no better than the kids running around a fire on the beach in Lord of The Flies. I’m actually surprised they buried Bin Laden at sea rather than sharpening a stick at both ends and displaying his head in front of the white house. That is effectively the level many people are functioning at right now.

There is a distinct difference between justice and just plain old murder and it matters. Many in this country at this particular moment are turning a blind eye to our ideals of justice merely because it is convenient. Hell I even think Bin Laden had it coming. But I hold the ideals of our society to be much more important. I’m sure Bin Laden would be comforted to know how deeply he has, in his death, been able undermine the principles of our country. Children as in the picture above, people dancing, politicians gloating, elbowing each other for the trophy. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being innocent or guilty and has everything to do with blind murderous mob rage.
