So much of our “justice” system has become criminal -they can’t even live up to their own standards.

Now hold on a second there. I would swear there were a few episodes where Andy and Barney waterboarded ole drunk Otis Campbell for information. Wasn’t there?

This really epitomizes the feeling many (most?) of us have that the American justice system has become perverted into something that flies directly in the face of what was considered good, wholesome common sense when we were growing up. Unfortunately, while this goes on there is a generation being born and raised without the benefit of our historical perspective, and unless something changes soon, unlimited surveillance powers will become the new “normal.”

Andy Griffith is real, Andy Taylor is the myth

  20. Let’s update THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW for 2011:

    1) Andy and Barney now wear paramilitary-type uniforms and are loaded down with pepper sprays, Tasers, a main sidearm, a hidden “backup gun,” a submachine gun, five pairs of handcuffs, a bullet-proof vest, etc. Barney isn’t limited to one bullet for his revolver, but now carries five 15-round mags for his Glock.

    2) Friendly greetings from Andy or Barney to the citizens of Mayberry have been replaced by glowering stares, delivered through mirrored sunglasses.

    3) Howard Sprague can’t wear his bow tie anymore, because he’s not “in compliance” with the dress code designed to detect Muslim infiltrators.

    4) Insert your own hellish change here

    • Instead of the whistling at the end, the show concludes with Barney taking a combat stance and yelling GET ON THE FLOOR DIRTBAG like some kind of hyper-masculine douche.
