Ted Turner: Climate Change ‘Most Serious … Problem Humanity Has Ever Faced’

Pete Winn reports on Mr. Turner’s statements for CNS News:

Media mogul Ted Turner says climate change is “probably the most serious–and, in all fairness, the most complex–problem that humanity has ever faced.”

He added: “It is really easy to understand how some people don’t get it, because it’s so complex and complicated.”

Turner took part in a telephone news conference on Thursday, held by his United Nations Foundation on the island of Svalbard, one of the northernmost regions of Norway.

His comments came in response to a question posed by reporter Sunny Lewis of the Environment News Service about how to change the minds of climate change skeptics…

umm he has no idea if asteroids are coming or aliens, or plaques or me. Plus this capitalist bastard only cares about himself and his elite circle jerks. just trying to get attention, probably wants to cell sun screen or electric cars (in which the battery takes tons of energy and toxins to make then have to be disposed in asia somewhere).
He should stick to mediocre comedies and sports teams.

Whether or not a 1/4 of the population of one island on the planet thinks global warming is the MOST important environmental issue or not, doesn’t make the FACT of catastrophic global climate change any less true.

Indeed what is says in the article you linked to FergalR  is that there are a host of OTHER environmental concerns that they are ALSO worried about, like overpopulation (which incidentally is a contributing factor to global warming), and waste pollution (ditto), and energy security (meaning they know fossil fuels are running out and they’d like more sustainable energy which would also reduce global warming).

But like all nimrods with comprehension problems, apparently you didn’t read past the headline, “Only a quarter of UK population concerned about climate change”, thereby missing the entire POINT of the article.

I’m afraid, my dear, that it is YOU who are in the minority. The rest of the world has long ago accepted the FACT of the problem, and are more concerned with solving it and other environmental challenges AS WELL.

‘Mr. Turner – a long-time advocate of population control – said the environmental stress on the Earth requires radical solutions, suggesting countries should follow China’s lead in instituting a one-child policy to reduce global population over time. He added that fertility rights could be sold so that poor people could profit from their decision not to reproduce.’

Maybe you should read that link yourself since it explains what portions of the emails were real and how it was used out of context to trick kids “God I hope you aren’t an adult” like you.

While you are at it please look into how science works, peer review and repeat studies. One group can make a claim, but not forge the research of others that back it up.

It amazes me that people like you will believe quackery from obscure sources and invested parties with no evidence of value, but ignore science and reason in abundance.

I suggest you google search your own loose “evidence” of the contrary to read the vast amount of opposing evidence and think for once.

Climate change is real.  It has always been with us but it is not man made, it is a natural cycle of time. Those who believe it is man made must also believe that there must have billions and billions of people in the past the put too much caron in the air and it melted the glacier that once dipped down into north America as far south as at is now New York City.  Hey, I will sell you bridge, forget have no title to it, believe me like you believe the nonesense of Ted Turner and Al Gore and company.
