Acrobat Arrested After Performance Atop NYC’s Williamsburg Bridge

OB-OR341_0711da_G_20110711214633Perhaps channeling 1970s World Trade Center daredevil Philippe Petit, aerialist Seanna Sharpe gave a performance from high on the Williamsburg Bridge, the Wall Street Journal reports. A crowd gathered to watch before the police used two vehicles and a helicopter to catch her:

It took approximately seven minutes for Sharpe to scale the tower, followed by fifteen minutes of midair twirls and flips. During that time, she remained tethered to the bridge only by a length of silk rope she had tied to the bridge beams.

I rather she came down and tried to get attention by getting naked for the homeless. A little bit too risky and not enough visual stimulation she gets a 6 out of 10

Good for her, life is short and If that’s Illegal, well I don’t support that law.

she’s got some damn balls, that’s for sure… just would suck if some unsuspecting driver had a body drop onto their car or in front of them and accidentally ran her over… who would be able to live with that?  nice stunt and good for her, but if it were not someone as GOOD as her, i would think that would be a rather reckless stunt, as it is disregarding the safety of other people, if she were to fall.

She said in an interview that she specifically chose the Williamsburg bridge because the cross piece is over the train tracks not over the roadway, and that the place she was hanging from was not visible to drivers and therefore not a distraction.  The Dailys News kept saying that she stopped traffic, but I was there, she only stopped foot traffic.
