‘News of the World’ Phone-Hacking Whistleblower Found Dead

Sean HoareNot thought to be suspicious but is unexplained. Hell of a dark omen with Rupert Murdoch due to appear before Parliament tomorrow. Amelia Hill, James Robinson, Caroline Davies report in the Guardian:

Sean Hoare, the former News of the World showbiz reporter who was the first named journalist to allege Andy Coulson was aware of phone hacking by his staff, has been found dead, the Guardian has learned.

Hoare, who worked on the Sun and the News of the World with Coulson before being dismissed for drink and drugs problems, is said to have been found dead at his Watford home.

Hertfordshire police would not confirm his identity, but the force said in a statement: “At 10.40am today [Monday 18 July] police were called to Langley Road, Watford, following the concerns for the welfare of a man who lives at an address on the street. Upon police and ambulance arrival at a property, the body of a man was found. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not thought to be suspicious. Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.”

  1. “Not Suspicious”? Just the fact that he’s dead is suspicious, not to mention it’s already been admitted they paid off Law Enforcement. Why are these Mother Fuckers not hanging from a short rope already? Forget Bin Laden, put Murdock and all his cronies at the bottom of the Ocean!

  12. Suspicious being the key word here. In this particular case, it could be synonymous with “convenient”.

  15. I don’t think he’d be dead if this was just about Fox NOTW…but mentioning loudly that cops were on the payroll…yeah…thats a fast ticket to the grave. There are two top officials down already…and anyone who doesn’t believe that cops and gangs behave exactly alike is suffering from a superfluity of naivete. It seems extremely likely that someone wanted the weak link in the information chain snuffed and silent before anything more specific came up.
