Legal Moonshine On Sale In South

File-The_Moonshine_Man_of_Kentucky_Harper's_Weekly_1877If you’re hankering for some moonshine, head on down to South Carolina, where it’s finally legal, reports Harriet McLeod for Reuters:

Two entrepreneurs are taking advantage of new micro-distillery laws in South Carolina to make and sell traditional moonshine whiskey legally for the first time in the southern state.

The Dark Corner Distillery will open next month in Greenville, where engineer Joe Fenten, 27, and longtime home beer brewer Richard Wenger will produce and sell small batches of 100-proof moonshine from a custom-made copper still.

The distillery, housed in a 1925 building, will also include a tasting bar and a museum dedicated to the history of the Dark Corner, the local mountains that were once full of moonshiners, feud and mayhem, Fenten told Reuters.

The area was settled, along with the nearby Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, by Scots, Irish and Welsh who migrated down through the Appalachian mountain chain from Pennsylvania in the 1700s.

“They thought it was their inalienable, God-given right to make whiskey,” said Fenten, a Dark Corner native. “It was a hard life. If you could make an extra 10 cents more for a gallon of whiskey than you could for a bushel of corn, then why not?”…

I just paid $ 23.86 for an iPhone and my girlfriend loves her Dell laptop that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 42 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 665 which only cost me $ 62,81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, GrabPenny.com

Fuck this. I seen bottles of this “legit moonshine,” and it’s essentially diluted corn whiskey. If you want the real good shit, you gotta go up to the Appalachian Mountains and get the 190 proof “rotgut,” because it ain’t moonshine if it ain’t lethal.

it’s just like the commercial mead and “legal” absinthe, hollow imitations selling on the mystique of the real thing.

I wouldn’t put mead in the same sentence as absinthe, because, naturally, honey tastes better than wormwood.

I don’t know, I love real mead but the store bought stuff I have had was some nasty stuff

    > They thought it was their inalienable, God-given right to make whiskey

How stupid could they be?  Everyone knows that the government must tell you what your rights are before you can have any rights at all. Of course the government must also regulate and tax your rights as well, otherwise there would be anarchy.
