Joel’s Army and Omnicide in the Name of God

Yesterday, we revealed that John Hagee’s church is confirmedly within the “Joel’s Army” movement — a group of the “most extreme of the extreme” of neopentecostal dominionists, who believe they are part of a “third pentecost” designed to raise a group of divine ubermenschen to “name and claim” the world for their theology.

One of the parts of their theology that is very rarely discussed — save by a few of us researchers — is that they are one of the very few groups on the planet to literally have a theological mandate for not only genocide but near omnicide — both pre- and post-Tribulation. Combined with the known use of coercive tactics and the decidedly unique interpretations of Biblical verses that claim they’re part of an end-time army of “God Warriors “… it’s not exaggeration to state this is a potential threat to humanity.

Things re “Joel’s Army” Hagee doesn’t want you to know

One thing Hagee may not want folks to know about is the fact that “Joel’s Army” is a kissing cousin to the horribly racist “Assemblies granddaughter” Christian Identity — namely, one big thing they both promote (though in different contexts) is the concept of “Phineas Priests”.

    Every time I see anything said by these sorts of ‘revolutionary’ groups, I admit—somewhat embarrassingly—I always become unduly optimistic that there will be an actual revolution that turns Christianity toward what their man-god actually said, and follow the teachings he instructed: money to the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, be meek and humble etc. etc.

    But then I remember these are fundamentalists who buried their noses in Revelation and just want to get to the end already. 

    Tis a shame. What a waste of what could have been a perfectly respectable ideology.

    “Slaughtering back” might be initially satisfying, but it’s not particularly creative. Making them irrelevant, powerless, and marginalized is much more fun. Simply moving into the 21st century and beyond and leaving them to flounder in the dust, takes a bit more work that just lobbing a bullet at them, but it’s more permanent, because they can’t even get what they really want, which is martyrdom. In this, they are no different than the Jihadi wackjobs. They’re all a bunch of drama queens. No offense meant to actual queens who are way cooler.

    Marginalizing them in the end will likely only make them resort to ever more drastic measures. These people don’t seem like they want to be martyrs like jihadis though.

    Go for it dude :-) In these troubled times…even those of us who love peace…need to remember that the other side doesn’t. It isn’t about machismo or perpetuating a cycle of violence…its about still being there to celebrate when the dust settles. As my dad told me long ago , “Never start fights, son…but not everyone feels that way…so know good and goddamned well how to finish them.”
