Police Continue Crackdown on Wall Street, Facebook Users Allege Censorship

Reports are coming in fast and furious from NYC Disinfonauts about the breakup of the ongoing actions in downtown Manhattan today. Numerous advocacy and citizens’ action groups came together beginning on Saturday to protest the ongoing consolidation of wealth from citizens to corporations, using the backdrop of the financial district to attempt to gain the attention of the national and international news media, located a scant 40 blocks north fo their efforts, but the media blackout continues.

Taken from the Adbusters / OWS website Occupy Wall Street:

Three hundred spent the night, several hundred reinforcements arrived the next day and as we write this, the encampment is digging in for a long-term stay. Now, it is crucial for everyone from all over the world to flock to the encampment. Call in to work sick, invite your friends and hop on a bus or plane to New York City.

Peaceful demonstrators who wrote on the pavement with chalk were arrested for damaging sidewalks.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the NYPD resorted to arresting peaceful demonstrators who were wearing bandanas by enforcing a 150-year-old statute banning masked protests.

Some protesters have been posting their images on Facebook and users claim that individual comments, not the entire threads are being moderated as they are posted, but we don’t have confirmation on this online aspect of the story.

You can assist these peaceful real-world activists and patriots by supporting them on all forms of social media and passing along their message:

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so
odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can’t take part. You can’t
even passively take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the
gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and
you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who
run it, to the people who own it that unless you’re free, the machine
will be prevented from working at all.”

If someone cuts the head off of that stupid bull statue (or preferably a hedge fund manager or three); I’ll start taking them seriously.

      • Anarchy Pony

They won’t, I saw a pic and there’s a whole goon squad of pigs around that goddamn thing.

No kidding dude…its pretty much a matter of time before some ‘disgruntled masked protester in black’ commits a crime and gets everyone hauled away and randomly beaten. The start of this may have been slow…but the always end the same way after law enforcement gets enough time to plan their response accordingly. I’ve just been waiting for the black bloc ops crew to move in and make enough trouble to shut the protest down.

God forbid they should make it like that fateful night in chicago all those years ago.

This is very telling of how far Disinfo’s fallen down the slope since the good ‘ol days when we were THE site on the web. Really? You guys are just getting around to this on day 5? Shame shame.

Wanooski, EB Jin — they have been able to remain in place in the tightest-patrolled neighborhood in the the tightes-policed city in North America, so I have to give them some credit.

Due to the sheer numbers of federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies  already in place in downtown Manhattan AND during the week of the UN General Assembly, this has been a very well-orchestrated action thus far, I can’t not congratulate them for generating any news-media recognition as so many daily and weekly protests occur in Manhattan and are largely ignored.

      Dub —

Your criticism is well-deserved, I was aware of this action, but did not submit this until day four.

While not claiming to be an up-to the minute breaking news source, I posted this to point out that very few media outlets are following this, let alone linking directly to the adbusters pages, live twitter feeds  and have updated content their content since Saturday. I hope you’ll agree that this coverage is better than none…I’m hoping to have more content tomorrow from the site of the demonstrations.

Cheers and thanks for demanding more of Disinfo!

Also FWIW content doesn’t run right when it’s submitted, so if I put something in the system on a Friday it might not run until the following Tuesday.

Physical body protests in the Virtual Age are a waste of time in the Virtual West.

If you want to occupy Wall Street you have to occupy its servers and its trade bots. Wall Street is actually housed in a server farm in Weehawken, N.J.

Camping in a park won’t end Wall Street but a well placed hack will bring the beast to its knees.

Ladies and gentlemen thank you for your continued input, your contributions are excellent.

Apologies for the dupe, but I’m offering my earlier comment to the newest disinfo post on this action,

      http://www.disinfo.com/2011/09/occupy-wall-street-civil-war-or-smokescreen/

which does a good job of further parsing various media outlets reaction to the ongoing events downtown:

“This is such an unusual occurence here in NYC that it deserves as much coverage as we can give it — what makes it unusual is that it’s still going on, most demonstrations are throttled by the NYPD’s uncanny ability to locate any bureaucratic violation to immediately short-circuit any legitimate gathering of dissenters within the confines of Manhattan.

What’s also puzzling is if this is a grass-roots citizen’s action to protest the corporate oligarchy that controls our elected officials and to attack the point of the spear on Wall Street, why is Alex Jones afraid to mention this demonstration?

After a very quick look on his sire, I see no mention of it in recent or archived news on http://www.infowars.com/:

      http://www.infowars.com/category/us-news/

Could this be because he is in fact a government-backed agent of real disinformation and this citizen’s action is not sanctioned tin-foil hat material by his handlers?

Very interesting. Please bring it to my attention if him and his people are covering this, like I said it was a very quick look.

Predictably, the mainstream media is coming out against the protests:

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/21/occupy-wall-street-protest_n_974693.html

whining about “openly smoking marijuana” which is only a citation in NYC, whereas creating a financial instrument that knowingly shorts the purchaser over time, wiping out their investment might be a slightly higher offense…”

As always the faggots demanding revolution need to get organized and learn how to use a firearm. That means join the Army, say “I want to be 11B”, then suck it up for 4 years (yes you might die lol).

If you can’t stand that, you’ll make a shitty Revolutionary. We don’t need little fuckers who think wearing Che T-Shirts makes them hard.

Not 1 single commnet made it through to msnbc, of course, there hundreds of comments from fat dummy teabagger type knuckleheads all got through, all saying the dumbest things you can imagine.
