Uh-Oh, this is bound to rile up One World Government conspiracy theory types … from Reuters:

Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said he wants to bring ex-Soviet states into a “Eurasian Union” in an article which outlined his first foreign policy initiative as he prepares to return to the Kremlin as the country’s next president.

Putin said the new union would build on an existing Customs Union with Belarus and Kazakhstan which from next year will remove all barriers to trade, capital and labor movement between the three countries.

“We are not going to stop there and are setting an ambitious goal — to achieve an even higher integration level in the Eurasian Union,” Putin wrote in an article which will be published in Izvestia newspaper on October 4.

Putin said last month he would run in the March 2012 presidential election and his current public approval ratings show that he is set to win…

  1. I cannot sympathize with people who who fear one world gorvernment…think about it it. No wars, no armies, nations receive statehood with self government. All the money spent on wars and useless things would be used for things that mattered. (Food, shelter, space exploration) The only way a stable one world government could exists would be if it were founded on largely democratic principles the same as America, the ones the US never lived up to.

I’ll contribute and particpate in the community and society, but i’ll always refuse to be ‘governed’.

    • Sure enjoy your New World Order. Like the person who gets appointed to the leader of the ENTIRE WORLD isn’t going to let that power go to his head. When that happens, where will you run to? You’re only option will be to live on a boat in the middle of the ocean, but wait, there won’t be such a thing as international waters because the World Government will control everything. No where to run and no accountabitly. And what about countries that don’t go along? There is no room for dissenting countries in a one world government, so the only choice would be to launch a full scale invasion and either kill everyone who doesn’t give in to the NWO or have massive reeducation camps. A one world government will not have room for democracy, it can only work through unity by force.

Your speculation sure sounds like it has a high degree of certainty.

        • Yeah, especially when I read articles like this one. I mean holy shit, how can this not be part of a plan to take over the world. Russia has been trying to take over the world since Lenin and before. It’s in the Russian DNA. They didn’t nuke us during the cold war because of mutually assured destruction, we were in a Mexican stadnoff with each other. Now, that our relationship with Russia is more ambiguous, this is the perfect time for Putin to make his move to assure world domination. He knows the US and the EU are about to fall, so he’s starting his own “U” to take over in the ensuing power vaccum. Machivelli 101.

          • You trolled Butter Knife good, man. Troll those mofos!

          • NOT TROLLING! This is serious business. Day by day we see the global elite putting the peices of their control machine together, secretly rigging everything to fail with one hand, while the other hand puts out the “Solution”, tightening the noose!

          • To be fair, who DOESN’T want to control the whole world? If your answer to this isn’t “everybody” your stance is doomed to fail, no matter how righteous you think you are.

          • A lot of people don’t want the responisiblity of controlling the world. They want to live their life and be left alone. I wouldn’t want to control the world, because it would be a 27/7/365 kind of job. Sure it would be nice to be able to change things, but I would actually care about how well people were satisfied, and it would take brute force to make everyone “content” with a world government. One would have to work at crushing all dissent, because their would be no room for it.

This is such a naive assessment, it will never work, ever. It will never be what it is hoped to be, It will either be toothless and ineffective, as in the UN, or will be oppressive and vicious as in every piece of dystopian fiction ever.

    • It will never work. Think Commonwealth Countries. Long live the queen but with autonomy. Nothing happens. We still wage wars. Countries still argues at each others.

1984 featured three superstates: Oceania (where the novel takes place), Eastasia, and Eurasia.

I’d say it reminds him of 1984 because the Eurasian Union sounds a bit like Eurasia which was one of the three super states in the book 1984. Of course in the book Eurasia is made up of the former Soviet Union and continental Europe. You should try reading the subject matter before commenting.

Meh. It is only 3 countries, hardly NWO. For you Yanks with no recollection of history (I jest I jest), after the collapse of the USSR they set up the CIS made up of the new countries minus the Baltics. However, it never really amounted to much. Been tried before, the governments involved don’t really want it. Same with when there were rumours about unification between just Russia and Belarus, they couldn’t get it together and fell out, and that was just with two countries.

Oh, finally! Thank you, Mr. Putin, we Americans have been itching for an enemy like you to make a comeback since the Cold War ended, because our economy is in the shitter, people are protesting, and we need war to put them back to work so they’ll shut the fuck up. God Bless World War 3.

    • For those too lazy to do it themselves he said:

The Russian people against Putin! This is indicated by surveys on the Internet at many sites. I am also opposed to Mr Putin went on to a third term.

Eurasian Union does not claim to supremacy in the world, according to this site. What is wrong if several countries would be between friendship and a mutual agreement?
How many of these unions have already created?
The Russian people have always actively supported the CIS countries, although policies of these countries are fighting among themselves.”
