CIA Tracks Revolt by Tweet and Facebook

Didn’t we know this already? Reports Kimberly Dozier on the AP:

McLEAN, VA — In an anonymous industrial park, CIA analysts who jokingly call themselves the “ninja librarians” are mining the mass of information people publish about themselves overseas, tracking everything from common public opinion to revolutions.

The group’s effort gives the White House a daily snapshot of the world built from tweets, newspaper articles and Facebook updates.

The agency’s Open Source Center sometimes looks at 5 million tweets a day. The analysts are also checking out TV news channels, local radio stations, Internet chat rooms — anything overseas that people can access and contribute to openly.

The Associated Press got an apparently unprecedented view of the center’s operations, including a tour of the main facility. The AP agreed not to reveal its exact location and to withhold the identities of some who work there because much of the center’s work is secret.

From Arabic to Mandarin, from an angry tweet to a thoughtful blog, the analysts gather the information, often in a native tongue. They cross-reference it with a local newspaper or a clandestinely intercepted phone conversation. From there, they build a picture sought by the highest levels at the White House. There might be a real-time peek, for example, at the mood of a region after the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, or perhaps a prediction of which Mideast nation seems ripe for revolt.

Opression never sleeps, its eyes and ears always open for dissent. I hope you fuckers are reading this so you can understand, your days are numbered.

Their days are numbered , but the reality is they will just reappear under a different guise.  Dick Cheney and his boys have most likely already mapped it out.  Remember the CIA was once known as the Army CIC.  Then they got some help from the Third Reich and ol’ Reinhard Gehlen.  And the rest as they say was history.

people need to realize social media aren’t private, you can’t say anything there that you aren’t comfortable saying in any broadcast media. if you don’t want the world to know what you are talking about don’t do it in social media.

Screw public opinions and revolutions these guys are not wasting money on stuff like that.  They are looking for the next big money maker and how they can get their ‘cut’.  They are most likely looking for the next big designer drug, or illegal product they can ‘muscle’ their way into.  Look at their bang up job in the cocaine trade. Remember these guys can order an airstrike or a hit just the same as most of us order take out food.  Plus they don’t like competition.  Anyone allowed to live is usually a fall guy or gal.

Anon does for the people what the CIA and other intel agencies don’t, they bust pedophile rings, they bust drug cartels, they are the hope of a generation that has learned that governments lie, they cover up war crimes, they are fascist, they arm mercenary paramilitaries who use profound cruelties to depose leaders that the USA want rid of.  If the CIA and other government intel agency’s were sincere in their proclaimed aims then the would would be a safer place.  Instead those who do serve such aims are hunted down by governments and persecuted.  Something does not make sense here, and that isn’t lost on me at all.
