Pro And Anti-Christmas Retailers List

Keepers of morality the American Family Association have released their annual list of companies that are “Christmas friendly” or “anti-Christmas” (the latter using the term “Christmas” sparingly and instead referring to “the holidays”). Lesson learned: Jesus loves Wal-Mart, and when you shop at Staples, you’re shopping with Satan.

And yet, if the ‘War on Christmas’ crowd is to be believed, that ‘companies AGAINST “Christmas” ’ list would be ten times longer.

Guess that’s another cultural myth busted. . .

Wait. If the ‘War on Christmas’ crowd is to be believed, shouldn’t that ‘companies AGAINST “Christmas” list be ten times longer?

Guess that’s another cultural myth busted. . . not that it matters, much.

Yeah, where’s the secularist, muslim, sharia, atheist conspiracy against a holiday that has very little to do with any of the traditional christian denominations, and was really a modified combination of two pagan holidays now?!

      • exactly! Santa and Christmas trees have nothing to do with Christianity…
the political correctness shit has gotten absurd…

Well not Christmas, just the general bible belt christian because they use their religion as the justification of perpetual ignorance. But we will sure as hell sell them their newest money leaching propaganda 🙂

Christian beliefs not being given a place of privilege = Christmas haters. Trying to be inclusive of everyone by saying “Happy Holidays” means you hate Christians and Christmas. Oh those poor persecuted Christians, first it was being stoned or thrown to lions, now it’s losing out  as not being a target demographic for consumerism in a few companies. Pray tell what injustice will you suffer next?

    • Even Jesus would say fuck Xmas | Nov 30, 2011 at 8:28 pm |

Celebrate amongst those that appreciate such values in intimate settings, just like all the other religious groups. The problem with xmas in many countries is that the objective is to sell the shit out of stuff to gullible consumers by playing guilt trip, and attempting to brain wash them into buying crap that no one needs. Have you seen the lines of people returning stuff after xmas? Do you realize how unpleasant those stressed out shopper get, especially the last few days before. If xmas music weren’t in every store, and commercials didn’t constantly remind other folks indiscriminately, then I’m sure there wouldn’t be such loathing of xmas, and chirstian’s pushy way, who seems to think that “it’s okay”, to be pushing their own agenda “because their book says so”. The hypocrisy is that they get really offended when other folks preach about non-christian belief or people who just want to live without such narrow religious binds.

      • Maureen Z | Dec 13, 2011 at 7:27 am |

        The proper spelling is  CHRISTMAS!!!!

        • Actually, The X is Chi, the Greek letter used IN F#$%^ING CHURCH as shorthand for Christ. Before you get your knickers in a bunch again, try learning about your own religion. You ignorance is showing.

        • Chrismuggeridge | Dec 18, 2011 at 2:40 am |

i like it, take the christ out of everything

        • Rick Shannon | Dec 19, 2011 at 12:00 am |

Don’t be an idiot repeating idiotic slogans. You obviously consider yourself a Christian, yet do not know enough of the history of your religion to know that the Greek letter X (Chi) was the first written representation of Jesuah’s name.

          • Nirvanasteve | Dec 19, 2011 at 2:11 am |

Jesus was initially represented only as the letter “X”? That’s almost cool enough to make me go back to that ol’ time religion. ‘What Would X Do?’ Slice a few heads off with a laser whip and ride off into the sky on a steam powered chariot, that’s what.

  13. Biblethumper | Nov 30, 2011 at 8:09 pm |

Well it appears as though the companies ‘against’ Christmas didn’t donate enough money to the bible thumping Americana goons.  Organized religion or bankers, they both take your money. What’s the difference they both find ways to steal the working classes’ money.   They both have what I would term ‘preachers’  The exception being organized religion,  you just have to dole out a bunch of money and that entitles you to 15 wives, your own TV show, a one way ticket to heaven, and of course forgiveness for all your sins.

What a bunch of ninnies. I am in awe of the system and scope of such ignorance. This shit takes hard work and practice.
I am having a hard time imagining the “core assumptions” required to create and maintain such a air-headed cabal of sycophants.

I went to the site. Guess what? None of the comments there were dissenting. Can this be possible? Does everybody on the internet agree with AFA “values”…….or is someone censoring apposing views on their site?
    …..me thinks the latter.

  49. I’d love to know the criteria for this list. What earns a company an ‘anti-Christmas’ rating? Hiring practices? Donations to the right groups? Not agreeing to ban merchandise as chosen by the AFA? Being popular with people who don’t like Fundie BS in the first place and never will? Whats the straw that broke the camel’s back…

…on the bright side…anyplace they hate…I suddenly need to shop at…and I hate shopping and consumerism in general. As spiteful as it may seem (yeah…not ‘seem’…more ‘is’), the only thing that could have motivated me to WANT to shop…is the AFA saying I shouldn’t. If they hate it…I think I can find a little room in my heart for it.

Meh who cares about who uses the word “Christmas”, its a huge market. A retailer’s goal is to make money through shamelessly commercializing the United State’s largest religion. celebrate the birth of your savior by having a shopping frenzy. Nothing shocking really. Religious and secular minorities should consider themselves lucky they don’t get the same treatment of their traditions.

    • This isn’t a good list/naughty list. It’s a pro Christmas/anti Christmas list. The maker of the list made no mention of the moral standings of the listed companies. To have done so would have been going off topic.

  96. How can it be said that Staples is against Christmas? I am Jewish and work at Staples but from Black Friday till New Years all that plays in the Staples stores is Christmas music?

They allow Jews to work there for Christmas?!

    • Because they use the term “H*ppy H*lidays.”  Only Satanists use that phrase.

      • Agreed. Only the truly evil  would be respectful enough to recognize that other holidays exist around this time of year.

Actually, The X is Chi, the Greek letter used IN F#$%^ING CHURCH as shorthand for Christ. Before you get your knickers in a bunch again, try learning about your own religion. You ignorance is showing.

my guess is “they use the term ‘Happy Holidays.” Seriously, I’m sure it’s that inane.

  111. If there were no Jews, then there would be no Christians.  Maybe we should allow Happy Hanukkah also.

…They sell office supplies. You know what I would think if I got office supplies for Christmas? Something about murdering whoever bought me Goddamn office supplies, that’s what. They know that this just isn’t their holiday (not that they have one, unless there becomes a ‘Toner Appreciation Day’).

      • My partner would think he had already made it to heaven if I got him office supplies for Christmas. He has more paper and pencils than anyone I have ever known.

      • They sell much more than office supplies, new computers, music movies, info crap like that- Mr. Smarty Pants.Heck at the Copy section- you can make a whole NEW calender for 2012. Can you do THAT at Best Buy? NOOOOOOOO!

Don’t be an idiot repeating idiotic slogans. You obviously consider yourself a Christian, yet do not know enough of the history of your religion to know that the Greek letter X (Chi) was the first written representation of Jesuah’s name.

  117. Nirvanasteve | Dec 19, 2011 at 6:11 am |

Jesus was initially represented only as the letter “X”? That’s almost cool enough to make me go back to that ol’ time religion. ‘What Would X Do?’ Slice a few heads off with a laser whip and ride off into the sky on a steam powered chariot, that’s what.

  118. Nirvanasteve | Dec 19, 2011 at 6:18 am |

Well that would just explain it everything. No arguments when you can only hear the people agreeing with you.

We American families (the Christian families) appreciate knowing which stores are less satanic while taking our money for cheaply made products from China that have helped place the American workforce in a death spiral. Ho ho ho.

  131. I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas and my prayer is that each of you have great peace in your heart and that the good Lord will shine His face upon you. I love each of you as a brother or sister. We all deserve to live in whatever way we choose. I will not ridicule you in any way and ask nothing in return. My God is supplying all of my needs and is greatly blessing me since I gave my heart to Him and began to live a life full of love and forgiveness for all peoples. My life is worth living and I am happier than I ever was leading a sin filled life. No more do I chastise others but try to live in peace and harmony with the world. You can have that same peace and happiness just by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
