Pro And Anti-Christmas Retailers List

Keepers of morality the American Family Association have released their annual list of companies that are “Christmas friendly” or “anti-Christmas” (the latter using the term “Christmas” sparingly and instead referring to “the holidays”). Lesson learned: Jesus loves Wal-Mart, and when you shop at Staples, you’re shopping with Satan.

    As an employee of Barnes and Noble, I can testify that we are most definitely against Christmas. . . Well not Christmas, just the general bible belt christian because they use their religion as the justification of perpetual ignorance.     Christian beliefs not being given a place of privilege = Christmas haters. Trying to be inclusive of everyone by saying “Happy Holidays” means you hate Christians and Christmas. Oh those poor persecuted Christians, first it was being stoned or thrown to lions, now it’s losing out  as not being a target demographic for consumerism in a few companies.     Well it appears as though the companies ‘against’ Christmas didn’t donate enough money to the bible thumping Americana goons.  Organized religion or bankers, they both take your money. What’s the difference they both find ways to steal the working classes’ money.   They both have what I would term ‘preachers’  The exception being organized religion,  you just have to dole out a bunch of money and that entitles you to 15 wives, your own TV show, a one way ticket to heaven, and of course forgiveness for all your sins.

    If for every hour the stores played xmas music we got a dollar, then many unfortunate kids will have toys around the world. Now that would be a pain worth enduring while going to those stores that incessantly plays those smarmy music.

    Celebrate amongst those that appreciate such values in intimate settings, just like all the other religious groups. The problem with xmas in many countries is that the objective is to sell the shit out of stuff to gullible consumers by playing guilt trip, and attempting to brain wash them into buying crap that no one needs. Have you seen the lines of people returning stuff after xmas? Do you realize how unpleasant those stressed out shopper get, especially the last few days before. If xmas music weren’t in every store, and commercials didn’t constantly remind other folks indiscriminately, then I’m sure there wouldn’t be such loathing of xmas, and chirstian’s pushy way, who seems to think that “it’s okay”, to be pushing their own agenda “because their book says so”. The hypocrisy is that they get really offended when other folks preach about non-christian belief or people who just want to live without such narrow religious binds.

    I’d love to know the criteria for this list. What earns a company an ‘anti-Christmas’ rating? Hiring practices? Donations to the right groups? Not agreeing to ban merchandise as chosen by the AFA? Being popular with people who don’t like Fundie BS in the first place and never will? Whats the straw that broke the camel’s back…

    …on the bright side…anyplace they hate…I suddenly need to shop at…and I hate shopping and consumerism in general. As spiteful as it may seem (yeah…not ‘seem’…more ‘is’), the only thing that could have motivated me to WANT to shop…is the AFA saying I shouldn’t. If they hate it…I think I can find a little room in my heart for it.

A retailer’s goal is to make money through shamelessly commercializing the United State’s largest religion. celebrate the birth of your savior by having a shopping frenzy. Nothing shocking really.
