Time Magazine’s American Vs. Overseas Covers

Via Glenn Greenwald on Twitter, an illustrative comparison of the front of this week’s issue of Time Magazine in different markets. Does this say something about the U.S. media, the U.S. populace, or both? Either way, I’m not buying that stress is good for you.

  3. This is sad, and represents the stranglehold the Jews have on both the media outlets and the populace of this country.

    • ohhhh riiight….the Jews of course.  All of them.  Every Jew.  Every single one…owns…your…ass……..you’re a @$^! tool.  Unless of course you’re just trolling for shits and giggles in which case I say I hope you got your jollies.

What’s more sad is the “informed” people of this site attacking you over something that bears some truth. Use “Zionists”, it implies that it’s just a group within the Jewish people (and not completely made up of them), not just “Jews” which sounds anti-semitic.

      • Zionists really? What are we living in 1900?

I get that people hate Jews (if only because I grew up seeing it) and I’ll even concede that yes, Jews as a population in comparison to the rest of the world seem to be higher in numbers in Hollywood and the banking system.  Does this necessarily imply a conscious conspiracy where they have a “stranglehold” collectively as a religious group?  I call BS on that nonsense.

I like how the “Asia” edition is in English… Doesn’t seem at all fake to me…

    • It isn’t fake. Maybe you should do some research before you post.  http://www.time.com/time/magazine

the term “Asia” is a western epistemological construct used to illustrate difference between the civilised “west” and exoticised “east”- in fact cultural and philosophical exchange has existed for thousands of years. This notion of difference is further negated by a phenemenon known as “globalisation” and the internet. Wherein the world shares (quote unquote) or has access to a global consumer culture. Are “Asians” are not able to speak “english” in your worldview?

    • Dynamitrios | Nov 28, 2011 at 6:32 pm |

are you serious? what language should it be… “Asian” ??? you are aware that “Asia” doesnt only consist of China, right? riiiight?

  20. I don’t think either version is worth reading anyways.  From the few TIME articles I’ve read they seem to be pretty shallow.

I ain’t surprised. This is the same magazine that declared, in 1938, Adolph Hitler “Man of the Year.”

    would be good for them
    according to the sanitized cover

  31. Given that much of our major media is covering the protests as a debate between “Merely irritating fools or domestic terrorists?…you decide!”  it doesn’t really amaze anyone that Time of all magazines would step away from drawing undue attention to something that no self respecting corporation in the US would want to make people notice.

I’m wondering what would happen if some of the vaunted Awakened Arabs the State Department has held up as heralds of Liberty were to come to the Home of the Free and speak in solidarity to Occupiers?  What connections would the media make then?

The Gestapo (aka CIA ) is on top of their game as usual. Being in ‘bed’ with News Corp, Bertelsmann AG, and Time Warner has it’s fringe benefits.  Apparently stress is good for all us so lets go bail out some more corrupt bankers/goons  and burden ourselves even further
