Buy A House Atop A Cold War Missile Silo

Via Best Places To Live In NY, a home for sale for $1.76 million in the mountains of upstate New York offers the perfect retreat for the collapse of civilization:

It might be the closest you can come to having a secret lair. A home in the Adirondacks is for sale – that from the outside looks like a traditional mountain retreat. But underneath is a cold war-era missile silo that would make Dr. Evil drool.

Cultists and fundamentalists are right now jerking off to this site. That one place with the runway has John travolta written all over it.

Forget the cultists I want one of these.  But I don’t want the house on top.  Maybe something to the effect of a rickety tool shed or an outhouse would be good though.  Come on in there’s plenty of room for everyone.

The only problem is that in a WTSHTF moment this is probably high on the targets of thousands of nukes ready to be fired.  Due to in no small part a collection of traitors, like Ames, the Russians had tons of info on the USA.  And they have this thing called the “Dead Hand” ready to auto-strike.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, first step on the road to becoming a super villain.

it is hard, however, to imagine a super villian living with that cheap big box store kitchen. i would suspect something entirely mid century or steampunk victorian…

  9. All I can picture is a lot of paper towel rolls and some D engines.. 🙂

  12. Fuck. Yes.

Does it have its own independent and safe water source?

Well, now that civilization is falling apart, this is the only sure thing.

That thing’s way too close to the surface to survive a direct hit from anything larger than small artillery. More of a tomb than a bunker if you ask me. Amateurs.
