    Belligerence as it is used here refers to an act of war, made evident by its context. To consider normal citizens engaging in protest as “enemies of the state engaged in acts of war” would basically be breaking the law as they’ve written it. Hence, no need to even write the law; they may as well just go ahead and lock everyone up.But that’s not going to happen. There are rights issues with this bill, certainly, but it doesn’t pave any legal means for the military to go all Tienanmen Square on OWS.Next time you say the government “could” do something, make sure you’re not just allowing that possibility in your imagination.

    You obviously are ignorant of the difference between arrest and detention and having your day in court.
    The difference is, there is no evidence, no guilt, no crime and no dictionaries.
    You have simply annoyed someone and they in their position of legalised power seek to do the following;
    Have you violently assaulted, attacked with chemical weapons and electrocuted. Then violently strip searched and sexually abused.
    Then to cover up their crimes, they will employ harsh interrogation techniques, over an indefinite period, until you confess to what ever crimes they want to make up or you ‘accidentally’ die in custody as a result of those ‘harsh interrogation’ techniques.
    Until you have your day in court, you have nothing, no justice, no claim of innocence, no ability to challenge your arrest and no means to protect yourself or your family.

    Just a side note.  The only supposed ‘confessor’ for the crimes of 9/11, was waterboarded 183 times in one month.  As the brave Christopher Hitchens demonstrated admirably, that one time alone, is excruciatingly traumatic. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LPubUCJv58)

    So KSM is Tortured in the most heinous and traumatic fashion at least 6 times per day for a period of one month and his supposed ‘confession’, which is of course not independently verified is supposed to prove that he ‘masterminded’ 9/11…   It is well established that anyone subjected to such ‘interro(r)gation will confess to anything to stave off such medieval abuses.  For example:

    Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the self-confessed mastermind of 9/11, was waterboarded 183 times in one month, and “confessed” to murdering the journalist Daniel Pearl, which he did not. There could hardly be more compelling evidence that such techniques are neither swift, nor efficient, nor reliableIf one of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s major confessions (Pearl murder) was false, why should we believe his confession about 9/11?
    After all, tough-as-nails Navy Seals usually become hysterical when waterboarded once in training sessions. After 183 waterboarding sessions in a month, I wouldn’t be surprised if KSM also confessed to murdering Lincoln and Kennedy.
    Note: I am not saying that KSM did or didn’t have anything to do with 9/11 (I have no idea). I am saying that nothing that the government said about 9/11 should be accepted without independent verification, and that torture does not constitute independent verification.     Americans if you have any courage or heart remaining than please research Building 7 and The Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth.  We have a mighty Excalibur in the form of Scientific evidence for a new investigation.  We have a Military that remembers their sworn oaths to uphold the Constitution and they are speaking out and overwhelmingly support Dr. Ron Paul.
