Life Would Suck If SOPA Passes

Comic creator David Rees, known for Get Your War On, has put forth Get Your Censor On, an attempt to convey what life may be like under the much-feared Stop Online Piracy Act. If we don’t band together to work to prevent SOPA from coming to fruition in Congress, you could find yourself having conversations such as these in the near future:

  1. I’m wondering if the best response right now is to troll YouTube, etc., and to issue copyright complaints against content by media companies, making it an object to get as many takedowns, etc, until we drive home the point that this isn’t in their best interests, either.

    • Haystack, when you prepare to troll YouTube, be sure that you read the DMCA notice that you have to send, especially the parts about swearing under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief…. The penalties for submitting a false and bad faith DMCA notice are not minor, and you have publicly stated here that you do not intend to act in good faith.

  3. My brothers and sisters, this is merely something our corporate masters desire, and therefore, we should comply. Please memorize the revised Pledge, below:

    PLEDGE 2.0

    I pledge allegiance
    To the rich
Of the United States of America.
    And to the Plutocracy
    For which they stand
    One nation
    Under the god of Money
    VERY divisible
With liberty and justice only for the rich.
    And fuck everybody else

I realize you probably did this in mockery but progress to overcome the wage disparity and classism in this country really need true anthems to propel them the opposite direction.,., not stuck facing the ire of the problem: namely the representatives of the wealthy and corruption: the politicians of the two parties themselves.

      • Yes, it was meant as mockery.

And I agree, we need an opposite chant-worthy / song-worthy meme to help drive The People in their quest for a more equitable society.

Something like PEOPLE OVER PROFIT, but more soul-stirring.

It’s not gonna save the world, but it will be a gigantic leap in the right direction.

Sounds eerily similar to what the relationship between labor and capital has become. “We own the machine in which you are a disposable cog.” *

Joke’s on you, disqus. I probably lifted that from someone else.
