Lifestyle Causes 40% Of Cancers

OK, so now that you know you can drastically reduce your chances of developing cancer, will you change your lifestyle? Michelle Roberts reports for BBC News that you should:

Nearly half of cancers diagnosed in the UK each year – over 130,000 in total – are caused by avoidable life choices including smoking, drinking and eating the wrong things, a review reveals.

Tobacco is the biggest culprit, causing 23% of cases in men and 15.6% in women, says the Cancer Research UK report.

Next comes a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables in men’s diets, while for women it is being overweight.

The report is published in the British Journal of Cancer.

Its authors claim it is the most comprehensive analysis to date on the subject.

Lead author Prof Max Parkin said: “Many people believe cancer is down to fate or ‘in the genes’ and that it is the luck of the draw whether they get it.

“Looking at all the evidence, it’s clear that around 40% of all cancers are caused by things we mostly have the power to change.”

For men, the best advice appears to be: stop smoking, eat more fruit and veg and cut down on how much alcohol you drink.

For women, again, the reviews says the best advice is to stop smoking, but also watch your weight…

OR GMO’s, BPA, Pharmaceuticals, Fluoride, etc..   Of course our lifestyles have an effect, but that’s just because our lifestyles are so controlled and manipulated. Go read a McDonald’s bag, it’s full of propaganda that makes you think their food is good.

This study is complete shit, the top risk factors are all being pushed down our throats by our governments and the corporate world. Yet the solutions and alternatives are kept deliberately illegal and/or scarce.Alcohol being a big contributing risk factor? HA HA HA, and marijuana is the drug that’s illegal! Funny how the one drug that LOWERS the risk of getting cancer, and/or cures it, is illegal. All our bad food gets produced for the masses while the good food is kept for the wealthy.(Fuck you Whole Foods Market!) Cures are suppressed also, in order to keep the system of “treatment” for cancer in place because it’s such a huge revenue stream. Cure the people and they no longer need treatment, no treatment no money. Nice scam huh?

You sheep better wake the fuck up soon, your enemy is reveling in the fact that you don’t know their the enemy.

Hey, garbage in, garbage out. Say what you want about the Food Pyramid, but you cannot deny that it drove home some very simple facts: you need more grains, fruits, and veggies in your diet than you need meat and dairy.

Where is exposure to sugar? Possibly the most toxic substance behind tobacco and alcohol that you likely ingest on a daily basis.  Metabolic syndrome is linked to numerous cancers, heart attacks &, of course, diabetes.

It’s not so much sugar I find problematic (what with the fact it comes in fruit), but the addition of artificial sugars like high fructose corn sugar, which is downright poisonous to your body.

sugar isn’t actually poisonous and does not cause cancer.

Sugar may indeed cause problems, but one of those problems is not cancer.  Cancer: the subject of the article.

Does anyone else find it funny that, in 2011, the symbol for women is still a stick figure in a dress. Makes sense, I guess. I’ve never seen a woman who wasn’t wearing one.

We could always go with this classic – it looks a lot more like a woman who isn’t wearing a dress.

because fat women die younger.  but seriously, your personal experience means nothing.  it’s just an anecdote.

uh, no.  YOu should know that WHole Foods Market is not the only alternative.  Every hear of a co-op?

And this paranoid fantasy about cancer cures being supressed falls apart once people like you are asked for evidence.  Studies show that enemas, juicing, and aura cleansing do NOT cure cancer.

There’s no evidence that sugar is poisonous.  However, added sugars have the effect of a drug that increases your appetite and desire for certain foods.  There is added, unnecessary sugar in almost all restaurant foods.
