North Koreans’ Mass Weeping For The Death Of Kim Jong-Il

What happens when your godlike, iron-fisted leader ceases to exist? Mass weeping, collapsing, and hysteria in public. Extremely disturbing scenes of existential confusion sweeping the streets of North Korea, providing a lesson in the psychology of totalitarianism. I could seriously imagine this leading to mass suicide:

Hopefully less people die from exhaustion and trampling then when his father passed.

“Oh shit, other people are crying!  I was going to throw eggs at his portrait.  I better put on a good show so I don’t end up in prison!”

Thats what i thought aswell… I dont even think anyone bothers to pay them for it, the people just know how they are expected to react.

I’m so glad I live in a America, where I have the freedom (for the time being) to detest my leaders even in death.

Reminds me of the Russians after the communist party fell, no one knew what the f**k to do…they have been conditioned their entire lives and now that a man they worshiped has passed, they sit weeping as if their lives have been ruined…maybe now regular citizens will be able to get cell phones, internet etc…o wait, his son is next in line. So the cycle continues until it is broken by the people themselves.

Unfortunately, that is not very likely.  They are “acting” in the sense that they know this is what they are supposed to do; whether it is what they actually want to do is, for most of them, not even something worth thinking about.

It’s not their fault, they’re brainwashed. BUT Dear Leader should’ve died with a bullet or 1000 in his head.

Read 1984, one cries because the others cry they cry because the expect everyone else to and so on and so on. Even though nobody really gives a crap except for what the other person thinks.

I suspect they fear the punishment for not weeping. Would anyone put it past this regime to hunt down and detain or kill anyone who didn’t cry upon hearing of Kim Jong Il’s death. Exactly.
