Microsoft Creates ‘Avoid Ghetto’ Feature For GPS

ghettoThere are very few areas in the United States in which merely driving through on a main thoroughfare is a serious danger, so personal safety is not what this is about — it’s an app to avoid people of a lower socioeconomic status. Via the Inquisitr:

Microsoft Corporation is taking heat for a patent it filed for what is being called the “Avoid Ghetto” GPS App. The app esentially links up with your GPS or Smartphone and when you are approaching an area that, based on crime statistics or racial make-up, is deemed undesirable it gives you directions around it.

Sarah E. Chinn, author of Technology and the Logic of American Racism, made an interesting point where she stressed that even though it may give people less of a nervous feeling to not get lost and wind up in a really bad neighborhood, the vast majority of crime is committed by people that know each other so this app would not really improve driver safety.

While probably a majority of elitist people are white we’ve breached the color gap and now there are stuck up jackasses of all races and creeds.  True equality is a beautiful thing.

Next will come the app “Avoid poor people in general! App” in wich the user that don’t whant to breath the same air with a poor (read “lower classes”) guy can use it to avoid any unconfortable situation. Why do something about this failing system! Just look the other way! “Avoid poor people in general! App” for those that are too egoistical to feel anything for other people!

So does the app direct you away from Wall St?  The amount stolen from their financial crimes are probably larger then the GDP of all the Ghettos combined.

The fact are black person can walk into any white, Mexican or Asian community rich or poor and will not be attacked for being there. However if a white or Asian walks threw a black area they will most likely be attacked shot or best just beat up. On MLK day a white guy was beaten to death by three black guys at an mlk parade and what was the white guy doing looking at the liberty bell. facts are fact black on white crime is 60 percent higher than white on black. And black on white rapes are 80- percent higher than white on black rape. The statistic can be found at the state department web as well as the us census site as well as the simple googleing racial crime statics of the US.

    • Calypso_1

blacks can walk into any mexican community…
this statement amongst others you made indicate to me some degree of confusion regarding the nature of racial affairs in America.

    • Matt

Where did the article say anything about race? You are very very out of touch with reality sir. Keep watching your fox news.
My sister is white and lives off of Fulton and Marcy in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. I walk the streets there day and night. A little street smarts doesn’t hurt, but that’s besides the point. 95% or everybody in every neighborhood is good people. Open your eyes. It doesn’t matter where you are.

    • Mysophobe

Not these idiotic white nationalist statistics again. Your black-on-white vs. white-on-black crime stats are pure horseshit. Defacto segregation (whites everywhere, blacks relatively concentrated) and the fact that most crimes are crimes of opportunity and not racially motivated make your numbers a useless measure of anything other than one of your own pathetic gullibility.

  • Anomaly_of_Anomie

Avoiding shit-infested areas with high violent crime rates doesn’t seem discriminatory to me. In fact, until they permit everyone (including whites) to conceal carry with a legal right of self-defense, I say the app is useful. I wonder if any of those who oppose it even live anywhere near the kinds of animals that would rob you, beat and rape you, or even murder your stupid humanitarian ass… just because they feel like it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/elpolloloco52 Josh Adkisson

You are an elitist bastard. You want to know why there are poor people in America? Because rich people (and the middle class) want nothing to do with them, and would rather they simply disappeared. As a result, they are afraid, and their fear reinforces their desire to avoid contact. The aesthetic you are operating under is ugly underneath all its self-image of “calling things as they are.” You’re not too far off from the humanitarian you criticize; the only difference is that they pretend to care about people they don’t know.

      • Anomaly_of_Anomie

I am the poor, douchebag. My neighborhood is safe. But others are not. I don’t always know where. Who wants to be a victim of violent crime? Not me… Who is invincible to bullets? No one, and that includes you Jesus boy.

        • http://www.facebook.com/elpolloloco52 Josh Adkisson

You are “the poor”? No, you’re *a* poor person. You’re not the only poor person either, and quite frankly, statements like yours made on the internet are unverifiable, and are usually made as a kind of “ace in the hole.” I honestly don’t care. If you aren’t elitist, then I suspect, based on what you’ve said, that you think yourself better than poor people of other stripes (e.g., the poor people who live in ghettos), and thus, my statement was only half wrong.

Aside from that, however, being invincible to bullets is not the issue. Christ, you’re acting like  all that goes on in ghettos is people shooting at each other and at cars. That’s ridiculous. You hear about that kind of stuff on the news, but what you don’t hear about is the husband in the suburbs who beats his wife, the girl in the country who got raped and was too afraid to tell anyone about it, the kids from the suburbs who came to the city to beat up homeless people sleeping on benches, the rich people who make the poor poorer by just “doing their jobs,” the police who rob, beat up, and murder law abiding citizens in New Orleans, and have been for many years, the ugly middle class girls who get murdered or commit suicide (they only show the pretty ones), the silent yet massive drug trade that goes on in suburbs and in the country that tears apart families, or any of the other shit that goes on. The news avoids it, and instead spends its time convincing people to believe the official situation: that all the world’s vices emanate from the lower classes. That’s just bullshit.

          • Anomaly_of_Anomie

I think you are correct about crime not being reported in the suburbs and country. The mainstream media only reports what they would like us to know, or what they have to admit. Mainstream media is funded and controlled. I think that’s why we’re on this website, no? Well what I’m saying is there are areas in the world that are most definitely unsafe. No individual can possibly know where not to go at all times. The app seems to be based on crime statistics, not economic or racial background, although those factors are sometimes coincidental. One doesn’t need to pass through a neighborhood physically to see it is a dangerous place to be. Property values also tend to reflect that. Why? Because money talks in all walks of life, from suit and tie ceos right down to drug dealing thugs and pimps. If it’s a desirable place to live, home values will reflect that. All in all, people are responsible for taking care of their own habitats. It’s not necessarily the faults of people who are better off financially. There is greed in the upper ranks, indeed. But there is also a thing called jealousy. Life isn’t always fair. I know that personally. I just don’t need to get car-jacked or my kids fucking killed because of politically motivated fantasies about not stereotyping the ghetto.

I’d like an app that helps to avoid the RTP efforts of the ‘free world’.

    • JaceD

I have to agree with you… If an area is considered dangerous then I would be greatfull for the information, especially if I was lost in a new place. Imagen getting out of your car to ask directions in a rough part of town and getting mugged for your troubles. It’s not really an elitist thing to want to be safe. It’s just like if you want to travel over seas and decide Afghanistan might make an interesting destination, after checking a travel website you’ll soon find it’ll make an interesting destination, but not a very safe one.

last time I remember, it was something like 44 billion for white collared crime, compared to 4  billion for all street crime together, of course that was premadoff, pre tarp, etc…

  • Jin The Ninja

when that happens, let me know.

    • Calypso_1

It happens – it’s just a localized phenomenon.  But when it it localizes within an individual’s spirit that’s when the fun begins.  Not only do you find the joy of true human companionship when you can give to those who have need, but the power of self sovereignty when you do not allow affronts upon your dignity from those that would lay claim to superiority.

  • http://voxmagi-necessarywords.blogspot.com/ VoxMagi

How about an app that calculates and memorizes areas with high rates of police misconduct and speed traps and warns you to change routes to avoid being harassed, intimidated, and essentially legally robbed by badged gangsters who can even beat, sexually assault or detain you with little risk to themselves?

That having been said…there is a slight flaw in the reasoning in the last paragraph. If we erase ‘race’ from the equation and focus solely on legitimate crime statistics…then further narrow the band to crimes most likely to involve a person traveling through an unfamiliar area in a car new enough and nice enough to include GPS service…we’re left with relatively random carjackings, robbery and rape…which aren’t generally limited to personal acquaintances. Rape may be a common crime by associates…but but it, like many other crimes, is also a crime of opportunism. Clinically speaking, without regard to racial politics one way or another, cold statistics aren’t inherently racial…and avoiding an area with a high rate of carjackings is probably the ONE thing a driver would DEFINITELY want to know.

    • Calypso_1

Aren’t ghetto and area of police misconduct synonymous?

      • Eric_D_Read

Not at all. Although ghettos do provide more opportunities for a cop to turn his corruption into an entrepreneurial enterprise than the burbs or the sticks.

        • Calypso_1

Oh come now, I know of a rural county near me where the cops run guns, drugs and prostitution. And a major burb/metro area that was founded by a core group of coca $ laundering/ indig land/mineral speculator banksters – Dirty cops in that town get sent to law school. There’s as much hustle going on in the average county bond holder meeting as there is on a street corner. Game is everywhere.
