“So Obama has thrown in his lot withSilicon Valley paymasters who threaten all software creators with piracy, plain thievery. -”

As opposed to Old Media paymasters who’d break the entire fucking internet just to make more money?

Please die soon, you smoldering douchebag.

  3. I think a lot people would agree that people should be rewarded for creating intellectual property, but there is a little more to this than that Mr. Murdoch.  I watch my favorite show, The Daily Show online.  When I search for a
particular clip on YouTube now, the video results are hosted on The
Daily Show’s website.  Comedy Central makes money on ads included in the
videos.  The videos provided online are much higher quality than
typical pirated video too : )   So there are other ways to address the
    issue.

There is a bigger issue at stake that a great media consolidator like Murdoch understands.  The American people are re-posting clips which show how the media manipulates public opinion.  Politicians are having a hard time saying they never said something when a YouTube video clearly shows otherwise.  Referring to copyrighted content is a powerful tool for accountability in media.

The Daily Show, while a comedy show that is deep in the rut of the Left-Right paradigm, seems to recognize the importance of internet freedom and what it means.  I think that is why they decided to find a way to compromise with their internet following that preserves freedom and profit.  So kudos to The Daily Show; and Murdoch, you are as transparent as a window.

    Film making risky as hell.

*Checks movies released in the last decade*

Sequel; sequel; remake; sequel; translation of foreign film; remake; translation; generic action film; prequel; remake; sequel.

I don’t see any risks being taken.

“Just been to Google search for mission impossible. Wow, several sites offering free links. I rest my case.”

That is a flat-out lie–I ain’t been able to find a link of that shitty Mission: Impossible sequel anywhere.

Rupert Murdoch lie? I can’t believe it.

    • devin todd | Jan 15, 2012 at 10:01 pm |

I did the same thing, I didn’t see one.  Not to say that it’s impossible to find a free way to download movies, but I don’t really see that google is the culprit.  It’s obvious that he has no idea what he’s talkin about.

      • BozoDeathGod | Jan 16, 2012 at 3:28 am |

Oh the barstard knows what he’s talking about, he just doesn’t understand the medium he’s using or respect the intelligence of the people he’s lying to.

    • Bootlegger | Jan 16, 2012 at 12:10 pm |

Exactly, I tried to pirate it but couldn’t find it.

Fuck you Rupert Murdoch I thought you said there were several free links. Unless your talking about the TS version, which is not something you should be concerned about because the quality is complete crap.

He is trying to be trendy.  But all he is doing is affirming his status in the upper echelons of complete assholism ( if that’s even a word).

      • Affirming his status as an isolated old man.
These tweets read like the pamphlet of a paranoid. When he starts ranting about 4 corner days, mind control lasers or secret moonbases he will finally be in the terminal stages of kookdom.

    • Geraldsmith | Jan 15, 2012 at 6:30 pm |

4 possible outcomes after he dies.  A. Satan offers him a spot as his right hand man to help regulate hell’s denizens. B. He starts up UNN -Underworld News Network.  C. Or becomes the fourth horseman leading the apocalypse. D. All of the above

      • Mr Willow | Jan 15, 2012 at 8:30 pm |

        E. He gets turned away because Satan thinks he’s too much of an asshole.

And lo! toward us in a bark
Comes an old man, hoary white with eld,
Crying, “Woe to you, wicked spirits! hope not
Ever to see the sky again. I come
To take you to the other shore across,
        Into eternal darkness, there to—

Oh, tis Rupert Murdock, here finally,
But this is not your fate, no punishment may we
In Dis bequeath thee that would do
Thy villainy, in life, justice. Go then, and flee
From here, and woe to I, Charon, who
Saw the face of he more reviled than Satan.”

Or he gets staked next to ‘he who gave council to the Pharisee’.

  18. He disagrees with Google yet he’s using it as his search engine. Sounds like people who hate Murdock’s near porn entertainment arm but watch complain about it on Fox News.  He is his own best customer.

Sorry, as a much abused and ripped-off artist who doesn’t want his work stolen anymore by people who think other people’s blood, sweat, and tears should be free for the taking…. I’m siding with SOPA. If any of you respected or understood the working writer, musician, actor, or film maker (the 99% that don’t own a mansion and a sports car) then you would see just how your thievery is destroying the lives and livelihoods of those that are trying their best to entertain you.

MAKE THEFT ILLEGAL AND PUNISHABLE. God knows we artists have taken enough punishment already.

    • The buried sessions weren’t buried deep enough to cover up that little girl voice growling through a litany of cliches. I suggest remixing and adding traffic noise, marching bands, barking dogs, etc. Who’d steal it?

    Entirely possible.

And actually, that should be ‘adaptation’ of foreign film.

    that cunt should be killed…

  37. Hate to break it to you, but most of the SOPA provisions we’re pissed about…aren’t to protect artists or royalties of creative content…they’re designed to allow total shutdown of sites without review or due process of law.

And the other bad news…if no one knows who you are…it isn’t because you’ve been pirated…thats what happens to the ALREADY well known…its because you just suck.

    • TizzleJAY | Jan 20, 2012 at 12:43 am |

you miss the point google and the pirates against sopa ,,, are liars and telling lies to the people who want to believe because they feel free music and movies is their right

      • Well…if that were really the case…they’d stick with punishments for pirates only…not a law that grants the power to close sites without judicial review or warrant. The liars are the people who wrote the bills and sold them as ‘anti-piracy’…to suckers who believe that that power will be used wisely and well.

Remember Australia…which in its efforts to combat porn passed a broad law against ‘objectionable content’…and wound up closing down religious, political and other websites at will. It was sold as a bill to stop hardcore filth and crime…it wound up being a weapon used against law abiding people. SOPA and PIPA were no different…too much power…aimed at the wrong problems instead of aimed at actual offenders.

And last…piracy (which is the actual sale of illegally copied materials) AND streaming…barely make a dent in the purchase rates of media products…the hype would have you believe they lose billions…the truth is that most of the people who view material illegally…wouldn’t buy the product under any circumstances…but will watch it as long as its free. Wasting time and money to jail them…will improve NOTHING…and do more harm than good.

Serious piracy operations involve massive amounts of fake discs produced and distributed illegally…usually by serious criminal organizations. Streaming sites are tiny operations by comparison…and completely different from piracy rackets (no matter how much the paid lobbyists try to make it sound otherwise.) anyone who even for a second imagines otherwise…has been brainwashed by the talking heads and needs to grab hold of a dash of reality.

  38. Technically…he’s talking to twitter fans who want to read his diseased ramblings…its no insult to their intelligence…they likely haven’t got any. He already knows the ‘truth’…information comes in brands…and people buy what they already like. His words are truth to them…even if the rest of us know lies when we see them.

Why did Murdoch restrict access to Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show in Australia.  Daily makes sense ….  Murdoch invents news.
