    I don’t know if it is the mainstream interpretation, but I think soylent green is a metaphor for US’ dollars, or any currency whose value is extracted from human life. One has to survive, and there is no other food, but realizing the horrible ramifications of our economy – all the opression, corruption, slavery, etc. -, makes it harder to chew your pound of flesh.
